    We did say it could be a fun afternoon and so it proved.

    Dublin and Monaghan now complete the line up for the All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals thanks to their victories.

    The Dubs needed extra-time but have eliminated Donegal after a thriller in Croke Park, while Monaghan continue to impress as they power past Westmeath.

    Both will have their name for Monday morning's draw before next weekend's quarter-finals that will be played over Saturday and Sunday.

    A second-half goal from Jack McCarron powered Monaghan past a tiring Westmeath outfit who after a memorable year bow out of the All-Ireland Championship.

    Another provincial winner beaten by the Farneymen in Clones, but now they are on their way to Croke Park and will find out their opponents during tomorrow morning's draw.

    Kian Mulligan denies Shane Corcoran who was aiming for the crossbar and it goes over the bar but this one is nearing the final whistle and Monaghan will advance.

    Still a chance here for Westmeath as Ray Connellan kicks for two. Over three minutes to go and Westmeath win the kickout again, but Monaghan cut out the danger and break out of the defence.

    They have won a free around the one-point arc and Micheal Bannigan clips it over.

    Dessie Ward has absolutely shanked an effort and Westmeath are on the counter, but Rory Beggan is dominant under the high ball and the pressure passes.

    It took him 51 minutes to get on the scoresheet but Stephen Mooney has been crucial to the Monaghan cause in this second half and he kicks his third point in the last 11 minutes.

    Jack McCarron, another man with a growing influence in the game, takes his tally to 1-5 as Monaghan now lead by eight with six minutes to go.

    All over in Semple Stadium where Cork have romped into the last four of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship with 26 points to spare, completing the line-up for the semi-finals.

    Ben O'Connor's side will meet Galway in the last four on Saturday, 4 July, with Limerick taking on Clare the following day on 5 July.
