  5. Harte and O'Neill unlikely to feature in 2026published at 15:46 GMT 4 January

    Scotstown 1-6 St Brigid's 1-10 (HT)

Tyrone manager Malachy O'Rourke says that Peter Harte is "probably not going to commit" to the Tyrone cause ahead of the 2026 season, while Rian O'Neill looks set to sit out Armagh's campaign.

O'Rourke was speaking after the Red Hands opened their campaign in the Dr McKenna Cup with a 2-13 to 0-17 win away at Armagh.

Mattie Donnelly who was also a part of the 2008 All-Ireland minor winning side with Harte, contributed 1-2 on the night.

"I think Peter, at this stage, is probably not going to be able to commit, unfortunately. Peter has given so much service to the county, he's a brilliant role model for all the boys, he'll be missed greatly," O'Rourke told BBC Sport NI.

"We're never going to close the door on him, and I definitely don't want to close the door on him.

"So, if it was the case that he got a wee bit of breathing space later on in the year and he was able to come back, well, then the door will always be open for him.

"But, at this stage, he's not able to give the commitment. So, we'll just have to move on in the short term without him, and we'll see how things go."

    Scotstown 1-6 St Brigid's 1-10 (HT)

Glenullin's eye for goal proved crucial as they booked their place in the All-Ireland Club Intermediate Football Championship final with a 5-8 to 2-8 win over Strokestown in Ballyshannon.

The Ulster side made the most of their spells, taking an eight point lead early in the second half and although the Roscommon side got to within two, it was as close as they would get.

Michael O'Kane's side will now face An Gaeltacht in the final at Croke Park on Sunday, 11 January [15:30 GMT] as a two-point free from Eanna O Conchuir with the final act of extra-time sealed a 0-18 to 1-14 win for the Kerry side over Sallins in Saturday's other semi-final.

  7. Dr McKenna Cup and Walsh Cup games postponedpublished at 15:39 GMT 4 January

    Scotstown 1-6 St Brigid's 1-10 (HT)

Sunday's Dr McKenna Cup game between Donegal and Derry and the Walsh Cup match between Offaly and Antrim have been postponed due to the icy weather conditions.

In Letterkenny, despite the pitch being deemed as playable, the decision to postpone the match between Donegal and Derry was taken based on the current road conditions.

Offaly and Antrim's Walsh Cup match was due to be played at O'Connor Park in Glenisk but, after heavy snowfall, the game was called off due to a frozen playing surface.

Sunday's All-Ireland Club Football Championship semi-final between St Brigid's and Scotstown is still set to go ahead as planned.

A yellow weather warning for snow and ice is in place in Northern Ireland until noon on Monday with a snow and ice warning for Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Louth and the province of Connacht in the Republic of Ireland.
