  1. Young not done yetpublished at 22:45 BST 10 April

    McIlroy -8, Young -3, Howell +9 (14)

Another gargantuan number - 343 yards - off the tee from Rory.

But it's another misjudged approach from just 100 yards. He shoves it out to the right and off it runs down the slope into three-putt territory.

But his lag-putting is second to none and he manages to move the ball up to within a foot from 65 feet and it's another par.

But Cameron Young makes another birdie, finishing up after a glorious approach into four feet!

That's three in a row for the American. Having been four-over yesterday, he's now three-under - what a turnaround!

  2. No birdie for Shanepublished at 22:41 BST 10 April

    Day -5, Lowry -4, Johnson E (17)

Jason Day runs through the green on 17 but he tidies up well for a par.

Now. Can Shane Lowry make it two birdies on the spin? No! It fizzes past on the left and that's a big chance missed.

He's still in good shape though.

  3. Burns turns up the heatpublished at 22:39 BST 10 April

    Burns -6 (71)

    Sam BurnsImage source, Getty Images

Sam Burns with a superb finish to his round as he banks back-to-back birdies.

A 305-yard wood at the 18th is backed up by a cracking approach shot before he rolls in a straightforward putt from 10 feet.

Barely a flicker of emotion from Burns as the crowd roar in delight.

The American was the overnight co-leader at five under and is a shot better off and very much in the mix.

  4. Fleetwood saves parpublished at 22:38 BST 10 April

    Reed -6, Fleetwood -6, Bhatia +5 (16)

Tommy Fleetwood barely touches his 40-foot putt and it races four or five feet past.

He'd have snapped your hand off for a par when he reached his ball and that's what he ends up with an assured putt back up the hill.

All that after a decent wait watching Patrick Reed take two on the green and Akshay Bhatia card yet another bogey.

  5. McIlroy stretches leadpublished at 22:29 BST 10 April

    McIlroy -8 (13)

Rory McIlroy hasn't been sharp with his wedges today but he floats a beauty into the 13th from 141 yards to set up a great chance for a second straight birdie.

Can he make it? He putts through the shadows of the pines...and yes, it's there!

What a leaderboard we have here, folks. Full of big-name players and intriguing storylines. Just what we want heading into the weekend.

  6. Postpublished at 22:29 BST 10 April

    Reed -6, Fleetwood -6, Bhatia +4 (15)

Tommy Fleetwood has the honour on the 16th and finds the green but he's the wrong side of the little bump and his ball stayys where it is instead of snaking down towards the pin.

Patrick Reed gets in much closer and will have a birdie putt on the way.

  7. Finally a birdie for Shane!published at 22:26 BST 10 April

    Lowry -4 (16)

Shane Lowry finally deviates from par - and it's in the right direction!

He punches the air in delight as he rolls a birdie putt in on the 16th.

    More of that please, Shane!

  8. Eagle for Fleetwoodpublished at 22:26 BST 10 April

    Reed -6, Fleetwood -6, Bhatia +4 (15)

Tommy Fleetwood moves to six under with a perfectly judged putt for his second eagle of the day.

Barely a flicker of emotion from the Englishman, who is expanding his crystal collection and is now just one shot off the lead.

    Andrew Magee
PGA Tour winner on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sublime. He's the first one to hit a pin-high shot all day. It's a really really good chance for Tommy Fleetwood to pick up two shots.

  10. Postpublished at 22:22 BST 10 April

    Reed -6, Fleetwood -4, Bhatia +4 (14)

What a shot that is from Tommy Fleetwood.

He is 237 yards from the pin, and a yard shorter and he's in the water.

Instead he plonks his nine wood softly onto the 15th green and will have an eagle putt from 15 feet or so.

  11. Sublime sand skillspublished at 22:22 BST 10 April

    Day -5 (16)

Jason Day hates his shot into the par-three 16th. Oooh, it does well to narrowly avoid the water and ends up in the bunker.

But how about that?! The Australian uses experience, course knowledge and sublime skill to fire away from the pin out of the trap, running his ball up the slope of the green and watching as it trickles back down to kick-in distance.

    Lovely.

  12. Burns firing it uppublished at 22:20 BST 10 April

Sam Burns is finishing his round strongly.

The 29-year-old is on to the green at the 17th in two then rolls in from eight feet.

He's back to five under and is there or thereabouts.

  13. Postpublished at 22:18 BST 10 April

    McIlroy -7 (12)

    Trish Johnson
Former Europe Solheim Cup player on BBC Radio 5 Live

He's scared of going left (off the tee), so he bails out right. But he's alright up there in the pines, most players are taking three shots to get on the green. It's the lesser of two evils.

  14. Postpublished at 22:18 BST 10 April

    McIlroy -7 (12)

    "Fore right!"

Once again, McIlroy fails to put himself in position on a par-five as he flails his drive into the trees that line the right-hand side of the 13th.

He's fortunate to find a gap through the pines and punts his recovery back into the fairway.

  15. Schauffele slide continuespublished at 22:16 BST 10 April

    Fitzpatrick E, Schauffele -1, DeChambeau +4 (13)

Xander Schauffele is having a tough time on the back nine.

He's forced to play a drop after a miscued bunker shot at the 13th goes over the green and into the stream running alongside.

    Three consecutive bogeys for Schauffele.

  16. Reitan caught out on 18thpublished at 22:16 BST 10 April

    Reitan -4 (68)

Kristoffer Reitan finds the greenside bunker on the 18th and then gets caught out with his sand wedge out as he flies the green.

The Norwegian, who is featuring in only his third major, limits the damage with a wonderful return chip to a few inches and taps in for bogey.

A great day for him regardless mind, and one that fully endorses why he was named as the 2025 Breakthrough Sportsperson of the Year at the ‘Idrettsgallaen’, Norway’s annual Sports Gala in January.

  17. Just par for Day at 15published at 22:13 BST 10 April

    Day -5, Lowry -3, Johnson +1 (15)

Jason Day passes up a birdie opportunity at 15, racing his putt past the hole.

Shane Lowry? Yep, you guessed it. Another par for the Irishman. He's had 14 of them on the trot since that opening birdie and he remains stuck in neutral.

A costly hole for 2020 champion Dustin Johnson, however, who runs up a double bogey seven after finding the water.

  18. Postpublished at 22:11 BST 10 April

    Reed -6, Fleetwood -4, Bhatia +4 (14)

Great touch from Tommy Fleetwood, whose use of the banking down the left of the 14th allows him run his ball on to around eight feet and save par.

Patrick Reed looks perplexed as his birdie putt stays right when he was expecting it to shift left and drop.

  19. Hojgaard grabs vital late birdiepublished at 22:08 BST 10 April

    R Hojgaard +4 (70)

Rasmus Hojgaard drains a birdie putt on the 18th to move from five over to four over and just inside the projected cut mark.

The Dane ends up two strokes better off than his twin brother Nicolai.
