We've had at least three or four minutes of calmness from Hatton now.

For him, he seems relatively happy with his round and he's in good shape right now.

He's very good at links golf - I think he's due to win a major and this is a great opportunity for him here.

Will Tyrrell Hatton back it up on the par-four 10th... Himalaya... his drive is leaked a little out wide but with only 123 yards to the pin he should be able to nudge his second onto the green.

The Englishman is no stranger to success on links-style courses. He is the only player to win the DP World Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Links three times, doing so in 2016, 2017 and again last year.

He ranked in the top-20 in the field on Thursday for strokes gained off the tee, approach and putting.

Tommy Fleetwood is playing some stunning golf today and despite just missing out an an eagle on seven he has a tap-in birdie to go to two under for the tournament.

He's four under today after starting with a hat-trick of birdies and then adding this one on seven and is yet to drop a shot. The 2019 runner-up is making a huge push forward today.

But Rory McIlroy misses his birdie attempt from just inside 10 feet on seven after an ordinary chip up from the dell below the green.

That was a tricky one but probably should've done a bit better than that really as he stays at one under which is level par for the day but has been far, far more eventful than that sounds.

A bogey-free round so far for Keegan Bradley, who added a birdie at the 12th to his eagle on the par-five second.

The US Ryder Cup captain is keeping himself in touch with the leading group.

Brian Harman found himself with a bit of company at the top of the leaderboard and must have decided he'd like to lead on his own again.

So he flies an approach from 115 yards on the 10th to within four feet. An easy birdie to take him to six under - a score I can't recall anyone getting to at this year's Open before now?

Playing partner Joaquin Niemann almost holed his second shot, but he'll take a four-inch putt for birdie to move back to level par for the tournament.

Finally Tyrrell Hatton gets a putt to drop. It's a third birdie in his opening nine and it propels him back into a share of the lead.

A 15-footer on the ninth hole and he's in decent shape.

Jacob Skov Olesen has been leading the Open for almost 24 hours having finished round one early afternoon yesterday.

It means he's had a lot of time to ponder that grisly tee shot at the first.

Yikes, and that can't have been how he's pictured it, a sweeping hook that flies out right into the undergrowth.

Could be a brutal start for the Dane.

Bob MacIntyre is SO close to holing his birdie putt on the eighth. He remains three under.

Justin Rose is a shot further back, scrambling a par after finding a bit of trouble off the tee.

Bryson DeChambeau completes the hat-trick of pars.

Another fine drive by Rory McIlroy on seven but he just comes up a bit short of the green with his approach, well it hits the green and lands but then doesn't have enough juice to climb up the slope so rolls back into a big dip in front of the green - joining the ball of Justin Thomas down there.

The 11th hole strikes for Christiaan Bezuidenhout as he drops a shot on the hardest hole on the course and that just drops him back a shot to three under.

Ludvig Aberg dribbles in his 15-foot birdie putt to make four on the seventh, following in playing partner Viktor Hovland.

Jordan Spieth can't quite make it three for three, but the American is on course to keep up his streak of always making the cut at Open Championships. This is his 12th appearance.

I can't recall Brian Harman being in any real trouble during his round so far today. He is rock solid.

A par on the ninth and Harman is out in 33, still leading by one shot.

The seventh is where Rory McIlroy and co currently are - the second easiest hole so far this week.

Well Graeme, it may be slow but Harris English won't mind coming off the sixth green with another par pocketed.

He stays at four under before heading to the par-five seventh, a hole that was added for the Open in 2019.

This pin on the 6th is just over what we call the 'false front' of the green, anything short is running back a good 25 yards.

These pins here this week are treacherous.

That's why I think things have been slow - not many chips are being holed so there's loads of two or three putts.

Before we all get giddy about Bob MacIntyre creeping up the leaderboard, it's worth bearing in mind that he was three under at this stage of his first round.

The problem the Scot has is that nine and 10 don't suit the left-hander. He dropped shots at both on Thursday. Can he emerge from them unscathed this time?
