Justin Rose has the most likely of them from about 12 feet - and gets it! Two birdies in four holes for Rose since that triple-bogey on the 11th - he's almost clawed those three dropped shots back.

Bryson DeChambeau and Bob MacIntyre are a lot further away and will settle for pars.

MacIntyre and DeChambeau are both currently five under for the day. A couple of great rounds of golf.

Speaking of Brian Harman, another excellent approach to the 17th green is 15 feet from the hole and he'll have that for another birdie that would take him three shots clear at the top of the leaderboard.

That's a really clumsy bogey from Harris English and the kind of mistake we're simply not seeing from leader Brian Harman.

He's left his chip onto the green 10 feet short and missed his par putt.

That'll sting.

Justin Thomas gets just his second birdie of the day on the 13th - which doesn't look much but can be anything from a wedge to a three iron depending on the wind.

And having played it, and ended up in one of the bunkers, I can tell you that the traps around it are tough!

Lee Westwood with a solid start to the second round as he banks another par at the second hole. The 52-year-old Englishman gets on to the green in three on the par five before he two putts.

Tony Finau is into the mix now!

The American sinks his eagle putt from 25 feet on the par-five 12th and he's at four under, three off the lead.

His issues with the weather are probably to do with his clothing choice.

US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley has been speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live's Andy Stevenson:

On having the round of the day so far and finishing bogey-free: "It’s the best round at The Open I’ve played in a very long time so I’m proud of that. The weather is great. There is a little bit of wind but nothing major but no rain and it’s a joy to play out there today."

How happy is he with US performances, wearing his Ryder Cup hat? "When I look at the leaderboard, that’s my first thought - where are the boys at? And when I see them up there I’m really excited. Brian’s playing good, Harris is playing good so that’s a good thing."

On whether he will be playing at the Ryder Cup: "I’m focused on being the captain. I never really thought of playing, to be honest with you. I want to do what’s best for the team, whether playing or not. A good weekend here could change that as well."

A monster drive of more than 350 yards down the 14th, followed by an approach from 120 yards that comes to rest two feet from the pin.

Every chance he'll be around for the weekend at this rate.

Rasmus Hojgaard gets on to the green at the 18th in two shots to give himself a chance of finishing off his round with a birdie.

The Dane, beaming from ear to ear, takes off his cap and salutes the crowd after sinking a 32ft putt to end his day in style. Hojgaard shoots 68 and finishes the day at five under.

Frenchman Romain Langasque undoes some of his good work, though, as he ends with double bogey to go back to evens after a round of 71. Christiaan Bezuidenhout of South Africa makes par on the last to card 73 and finishes two under.

Groans in the stands around the 12th green as Rory McIlroy hits a brilliant putt from just over 30 feet that tracks all the way and seems destined to drop for eagle.

But it just misses! The fans were desperate to see the big bird land there, but a birdie four will do now, and can that spark a big run for the local hero down the stretch?

Englishman Matthew Jordan would’ve gone to bed content last night after a three-under opening round at Portrush - and he'll feel equally happy with an opening par here to kick off his second round.

There is plenty of support out there today for Bryson DeChambeau and they've seen much better golf then yesterday's spectators. As I said earlier, it couldn't really have got any worse!

At the minute, the projected cut is +2 or better and after back-to-back birdies it's looking like the two-time US Open champion might just be sticking around for the weekend!

A tip of the cap from Rasmus Hojgaard as he just about manages to knock in a 30-footer on the final green to seal a fine round of 68 and set the pace in the clubhouse on five under par.

He's currently T4 on the leaderboard but that will do just nicely for the Dane, who knows how to get the job done in these conditions as he won the Irish Open at the stunning Royal County Down last year.

So watch out for him over the weekend.
