  1. Hamilton fastest

    Lewis Hamilton has topped the leaderboard now, with a lap time of 1:17.931.

    Kimi Antonelli is second and Max Verstappen is third.

    "Pretty tricky lap" Hamilton said on the radio.

    Isack Hadjar just ran wide - a little bit like the Lace Stroll situation yesterday - a bit too deep into Turn 12, but he went even further than Stroll did. He tried to save it but it span Hadjar round.

  3. Yellow flag has stopped waving and the rest of the pack carry on as they were.

    Max Verstappen's Red Bull was topping the time sheets but is overtaken by Kimi Antonelli's Mercedes.

    Antonelli is quick on the radio to tell his engineer he has no grip.

    Oh no, Isack Hadjar has a spin and gets on to the grass. No issues for the Red Bull as he gets back on to the track and makes his way to the pits.

  5. Charles Leclerc has switched out the medium tyres for the red softs in his Ferrari.

    Fernando Alonso is the first to set a lap time on the board. All 16 cars are out on track now.

    Williams are bringing a big upgrade, but not until the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in September.

    So they will have to wait a little longer until they see any light at the end of their tunnel.

  7. 'Massive progress for Aston Martin'

    That's what Aston Martin need.

    I'm sure they would've loved to have had both drivers up there but that's massive progress for Aston Martin.

    And Fernando Alonso is the driver they really want to keep happy. He's still 1.9 seconds off, t's a long a way, but importantly, he's made it through to the next stage.

    The timer has started its countdown and guess who is the first car to get out on track?

    Fernando Alonso. The Aston Martin upgrades must be a massive boost for the team, where will Alonso qualify for Sunday's race?

  10. The two Williams cars have not made it out of Q1 in Hungary and Alex Albon does not seem very happy with his car.

    The upgrade is working, and Alonso is through into Q2.

  15. 'Aston Martin want to be in midfield fight'

    Aston Martin are hoping this is the real start of their season. They just want to be in the fight.

    They know [the upgrade] isn't going to rocket them up to the top guys, but they want to be in that midfield scrap, because they've been languishing at the back.

  17. Can Alonso get out of Q1?

    The new Aston Martin in Fernando Alonso's hands is 12th fastest at the moment.

    Alonso has run two sets of soft tyres, whereas everybody else has run one.

    But I do wonder, can Alonso get out of Q1?

    That would be huge for Aston Martin.

  18. The two Ferraris are the only cars on a set of medium tyres. Everyone else has the red soft compounds bolted on.

    These Aston Martin upgrades must be working, Fernando Alonso has found himself in 12th spot now.

    OK, Lando Norris has just beaten it - but it may be that the time from Verstappen is not so bad, and that the soft tyre is not so much quicker than the medium in the sense that if they're struggling to make it last for the lap, the medium is not that much harder.

    There may be not that much margin between the two tyres, but it's hard to be sure for now.

  20. There is just over three minutes to go for Q1.

    The drivers popped in to their team garages and are now making their way out for the final runs of the first qualifying session.
