  1. Antonelli now youngest championship leaderpublished at 08:03 BST 29 March

Thanks to his second successive win of the season, Kimi Antonelli becomes the youngest leader of the world championship in F1 history at the age of 19 - he's just stacking up the records this year.

The top three are now in the cooldown room and it's combination we've never seen before, with Antonelli, Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc watching the highlights unfold on the big screen.

Leclerc watches his scrap with team-mate Lewis Hamilton and acknowledges the pair almost made contact.

  3. Team radio - Piastri to McLarenpublished at 07:58 BST 29 March

Engineer: "Well done Oscar, chequered flag. Good job, P2. Did not think I'd be sat here frustrated that a safety car cost you a win but that is a really phenomenal weekend, amazing job."

Piastri: "Wow. Turns out when we start these things, we're pretty good. Well done everybody, that was a great weekend. We've still got a little bit of time to find but well done everyone, we deserve that and lets find some more pace. We'll be doing this a hell of a lot more often."

  4. Gasly takes P7published at 07:55 BST 29 March

So George Russell has to settle for fourth place in the end. He did pass Charles Leclerc late on for P3 but the clock had run out when the Ferrari driver made his instant overtake.

Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton end their Suzuka weekends in the same place they started in - fifth and sixth - after some good battling between the two at the end.

Congratulations to Pierre Gasly, who held off the Red Bull of Max Verstappen to stay in seventh place, with the Dutchman finishing P8 following his Q2 knoxkout yesterday.

The final two points places went to Racing Bulls' Liam Lawson, who qualified P14, in ninth and Audi's Gabriel Bortoleto in 10th.

    Ian: Antonelli the new Hamilton.

John: Just won the race, youngest leader of a WDC in F1 history, yet still manages to remember to thank the factory workers in Brackley. Antonelli is a pretty cool guy.

Engineer: "Get in there Kimi! Good effort man!"

Antonelli: "Woohoo! Let's go man! I was lucky with the safety car but the race was unbelievable at the end."

Engineer: "Yeah pace was really good on that hard tyre, but yeah we really dodged a bullet today."

Antonelli: "Thank you everyone, thank you all the boys and girls in Brackley. What car, thank you so much."

Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli wins the Japanese Grand Prix!

What a race for the Italian teenager. He tumbled down the pack at lights out from pole position but he made his way through the field and then the timing of the safety car worked out perfectly for him.

After not taking part in the first two races, McLaren’s Oscar Piastri finishes second, with Charles Leclerc taking the final podium place after a great move round the outside of George Russell at Turn One.

Hamilton has done the exact same to Lando Norris. So Lando went down the inside at the chicane and Hamilton has pretty much done the same move that Leclerc did on Russell.

Lewis Hamilton is trading spots with reigning title holder Norris. He's holding onto fifth for now but the Briton is ready to pounce again.

When Mercedes is out in front, it is the fastest car. Certainly, he [Antonelli] has had the luck because the safety car can be timed perfectly for him.

Gabriel Bortoleto seems to have lost some pace during this race. He was looking fairly strong, could be similar to Hamilton and potentially taken a little bit too much out of his tyres at the restart on the safety car.
