We asked for your thoughts after Sunday's Premier League game between Nottingham Forest and Burnley.

Here are some of your comments:

    Forest fans

Ian: From unforgivably bad to ecstasy, you couldn't get two contrasting halves of football. Brian Clough said goals change games, and boy was he right in this game. Even the second half was nervy at first but our goal unlocked a freedom that was lacking. Credit to our manager, it sounds like he told them to drop their nerves and express themselves. Still lots of hard work ahead but keep calm and carry on!

Stephen: How can you go from utter garbage first half to absolute brilliance in the second half? Morgan Gibbs-White has carried us many times this season but this must go down as one of the best hat-tricks ever. Let's just hope that we don't have another first half like that and we might just avoid relegation.

James: Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. We've had no luck most of the year and now it's all coming our way. Another couple of wins out of the last five are needed though as Spurs looked a lot better.

    Burnley fans

Dusty: Was at the game. Very poor other than passing back to the keeper which Burnley excel at. Just not good enough. Too many players are well below Premier League standard. Ekdal, Tchaouna, Florentino, Ugochukwu, Anthony in particular. Forest could score at will in the second half. Parker's tactics shown to be useless yet again. Where are the home grown players coming through the development team? No sign of any.

Paul: Sad and damning proof of how poor we have been all season. I fear for our prospects in the Championship next season under the same management.

Alan: When teams are in hopeless situations they can either fight or capitulate. Burnley have chosen the capitulation option. Impossible to see how the players that remain after the cull at the end of the season can be lifted and readied for the dog fight that is the Championship. League One here we come.

Steve: Complete capitulation in the second half, not one player has the passion or desire to win. Burnley are very short of a leader, both on and off the field.

Burnley are set to be relegated - it is just a question of when - after this second-half surrender.

The Clarets have lost 45 of their last 71 games over their past two seasons in the Premier League and look about to be instantly relegated for a third time following promotion.

Despite going ahead with Zian Flemming's goal right on half-time, they failed to capitalise on the anxiety around the City Ground with a subdued Nottingham Forest jeered off at the break.

Forest had previously scored just three goals in eight and a half league games at home yet they then netted four in 45 minutes against the Clarets.

Scott Parker's side folded, even with Forest nowhere near their best, and there looks to be no way back. Relegation could come as early as Wednesday.

The biggest question for the Clarets now is, if they are relegated and again make an immediate return from the Championship, how do they finally consolidate their place in the Premier League?

After all, not so long ago they spent six straight seasons - and qualified for Europe - in the top flight under Sean Dyche.

  3. Nottingham Forest 4-1 Burnley: What Parker saidpublished at 16:51 BST 19 April

It wasn't about tactics this afternoon - Parker

Burnley boss Scott Parker, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "For an hour we were very good, very disciplined. We got our noses in front and it carried on in to the second half. The game changes on their goal, in that moment we give up two or three sloppy goals and lost our way. The inconsistencies have been paramount at times and you can see that today.

"[After conceding the first] it's not about tactics, it's about digging through the next bit and trying to get a foothold again. We didn't do that, in fact the opposite happened and we concede four. It is poor.

"The team have got scars and I understand that because it has been a long season. What you've seen today has been a replica of other games. You can see at times that is weighting heavy, particularly when we conceded. Senior players need to step up.

"I am never going to criticise our general work ethic and desire. Where we have fallen short is quality. We will keep going.

"It is a difficult period now, but it's about individuals, who you want to be and how you want to see out these last games. How we end this season will be key."

    Did you know?

    • Burnley have lost more than 20 games in a league campaign (21) for the fourth time this century, also doing so in the Premier League in 2009-10 and 2023-24 (24 in both), and in the second tier in 2002-03 (21).

    • Only Erling Haaland and Igor Thiago (both 9) have scored more away goals in the Premier League this season than Burnley's Zian Flemming, with eight of his nine total goals in the competition coming on the road.

    • Among all players to score more than five Premier League goals, none have scored a greater proportion of their total in away games than Flemming (89% - 8/9, same as Marc Guehi).

Chris Sutton smiling on a yellow and black background with 'Sutton's predictions' written below his face

This is Nottingham Forest's biggest game of the season.

It's a great chance for them to get three points, but gosh this is going to be nervy - it is going to be a very tense afternoon but they just have to find a way to win, it doesn't matter how.

Burnley are done now, they are going down - but that might not help Forest because it could see Scott Parker's side play with more freedom.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-0

  7. Nottingham Forest v Burnley: Key stats and talking pointspublished at 13:02 BST 18 April

Nottingham Forest's elation at reaching a first European semi-final since 1984 will be short-lived if they don't follow it by putting points on the board against second-bottom Burnley at the City Ground on Sunday (14:00 GMT).

    Forest could yet be felled

Vitor Pereira's side set up an all-English Europa League last four clash against Aston Villa with a tense 1-0 win over Porto on Thursday – the Portuguese head coach's first home win in six attempts since he was appointed on 15 February.

The prospect of relegation on the domestic front, however, is still a very real one. The Reds, currently 16th, could find themselves in the relegation zone by Sunday night if they lose and West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur both win.

An impotent Forest attack has registered just 14 goals in 16 home league games this season, failing to find the net in five of their last seven. It's their lowest goals-per-game record at home (0.88) in a league season since 1996-97 (0.79).

Elliot Anderson missed the win over Porto due to the death of his mother, Helen, and it remains to be seen if the England star will be available for selection. Pereira told reporters after the game: "We are here to help him and we will see if he can play the next game."

The Tricky Trees, who are unbeaten in six in all competitions, could do with his industry in midfield in a game like this. Anderson has won possession 10 or more times in 10 Premier League games this season; the most in Europe's big five leagues in 2025-26 and more than three times as often as any of his opponents in this country.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson has recorded 10 Premier League games with at least 10 possession recoveries during the 2025–26 season. This figure significantly leads the division, with his nearest competitors - Dominik Szoboszlai, Declan Rice, Joelinton, and Mateus Fernandes - all recording just three such games as of April 12, 2026.

    Clarets sinking

With just one win in their past 23 league games – against Crystal Palace on 11 February – it has been a miserable campaign for Burnley.

The Clarets, facing their third relegation from the top flight in five seasons, are this decade's best example of a Premier League yo-yo club; too good for the Championship but unable to cut it in the top tier.

Unlike bottom club Wolverhampton Wanderers, 19th-placed Burnley's relegation cannot be confirmed this weekend and head coach Scott Parker has pledged that his team will "keep fighting between now and the end of the season".

They've conceded 63 goals, the most in the division, which is perhaps no surprise when you look at some of their related defensive numbers.

The table shows Burnley’s defensive struggles during the 2025-26 Premier League season. The specific snapshot in the graphic reflects their performance through 32 matches, at which point they had conceded 63 goals and ranked last in the league across every major defensive metric shown.

Twinned with those defensive struggles has been a similarly tough time in front of goal. While they aren't the lowest scorers in the league – Wolves and Forest are both worse off in that regard – Burnley have managed the fewest shots of any side, with 297 (an average of 9.3 per game).

Among teams to have played 30 or more games under a single manager since such records began in 2003-04, Scott Parker's Burnley have had the joint-fewest attempts of any team under one boss, along with Paul Clement's Swansea City and Chris Wilder's Sheffield United.

  8. Parker on team news, offside goals and relegation battlepublished at 15:02 BST 17 April

    BBC Sport journalist

    Media caption,

Burnley boss Scott Parker has been speaking to the media before Sunday's Premier League game against Nottingham Forest at The City Ground (kick-off 14:00).

Here are the key lines from his news conference:

    • The Burnley boss delivered an update on his team: "Josh Laurent is back, Hannibal Mejbri is edging closer but will miss this weekend, heading towards Leeds is a better option. Connor Roberts is still not available. Zeki Amdouni is moving in the right direction but we'll have to make a call on that."

    • Parker acknowledged the two offside decisions in their defeat by Brighton and Hove Albion: "What can you say to that, if it's an offside, it's an offside. Disappointing and frustrating of course when you have two goals disallowed on the finest of margins. It was a hard one to take but factually it's an offside."

    • The Clarets head coach said he will be "prepared" to face Nottingham Forest on Sunday: "We understand the dynamics of the game and what the game is going to bring. There is something on the game for both teams in terms of the predicament that both teams are facing. First and foremost, we need to be prepared for what we are going to face here and hopefully bring our quality and tactics into the game."

    • Parker spoke on the possibility of relegation: "We understand the situation we are in and the challenge that we face and it's an absolutely massive one. I'm the biggest realist and as honest as they come."

    • He added: "The last four or five games have been must-win games, which we've not been able to do and those games are running out for us. We have to keep learning from our experiences, and learning from each game. I know that can be seen as fluffy but that's where we are."

    • Parker said he was "relaxed" about his contract ending next year, adding: "My focus is trying to get the best out of the group and my situation is mine and is not something I think about at this moment in time. Those conversations will take place in due course."

    • He said managing players that aren't used to losing has been difficult: "It is what it is, we are where we are, we brought in players and we are working with them. It's been difficult on the mental side, players aren't used to losing games from where they might have come from."

    • The boss continued: "The challenge goes up tenfold when you step up into the Premier League. It's a man-v-man game, that's the way the game has gone. The dynamics of the game have changed."

  9. Clarets face most shots and manage fewestpublished at 16:30 BST 16 April

Burnley head to Nottingham Forest on Sunday (14:00), in a bid to keep any dwindling hopes of Premier League survival alive.

With six games remaining, Scott Parker's side are 12 points from safety. That makes grim reading for Clarets fans, as do these statistics from the 32 Premier League games played so far.

In the top flight this season Burnley have faced:

    • The most shots (533)

    • The most shots on target (181)

    • The most xG (64.0)

    They have also:

    • Allowed the most touches in their own penalty area (1,051)

    • Faced the most big chances (99)

The Clarets have conceded 63 goals this campaign, the most in the division and five more than bottom side Wolves.

At the other end of the pitch, Burnley have managed the fewest shots of any side - 297 in 32 Premier League matches this season – an average of 9.3 per game.

Two Premier League heavyweights are set to face each other this weekend at Etihad Stadium, as Manchester City host Arsenal.

  11. 'Parker does not have what it takes at the top level'published at 10:46 BST 14 April

    Natalie Bromley
    Fan writer

The scenes at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon told a very clear story: the seats were either empty or emptying, as Burnley once again failed to find a way to break down a side that didn't really have to break into a sweat to beat them.

So many posts across the various social media channels told tales of fans opting to do something else with their time, something better than watching another 90 minutes of dreary Parkerball: holidays with family; taking up a new hobby; pub with friends. Some posts talked of a decision not to renew their season ticket this year, often the first time in a long time.

I listened to about 12 seconds of Scott Parker's post-match interview. I didn't need to listen to any more, it's the same old nonsense he has been pushing out all season. Nothing has changed. Nothing is going to change.

The harsh reality is that as incredible a person Scott Parker is (and I bring no joy in what I am about to say) he simply does not have what it takes to manage at the top level. Perhaps no manager could keep Burnley in the top flight any more, but even if we accept that as true, what I cannot accept is such a dogged refusal to do anything differently.

I really wanted this to work for him. I really did.

If Parker, and the board and the players had proactively changed their approach throughout the season to try to improve things, then I wouldn't feel the apathy I do towards them. There's no accountability, no jeopardy. We are seeing more and more mistakes across our website, programmes and fixtures lists - there seems to be no pride in what we produce any more.

A summer reset is badly needed. From all of us.

We asked for your thoughts after Saturday's Premier League game between Burnley and Brighton.

Here are some of your comments:

    Burnley fans

Shaun: Typical Burnley! Played okay but with very little quality in the final third. Concede first, then have a good spell but don't kick on! The substitutions made were baffling again. Championship here we come!

Martin: Scott Parker is in cloud cuckooland if he thinks it was an even game. Forget stats - Brighton should have been out of sight by half time. I lost count of the number of times we lost possession. We had no quality without Hannibal Mejbri. This was one of the worst performances of the season, and that's saying something.

Paul: Woeful. The score flattered us. Brighton should have had another two in first half. We are toothless and low on confidence. Parker seems to have coached out any determination from the squad.

Michael: That's the least I've cared about a Burnley game since the Cotterill era. It's not necessarily that we're really bad, it's just bland, nothingness devoid of any excitement or emotion.

    Brighton fans

David: A scruffy game but only to be expected against a side almost down, so we did not miss Lewis Dunks stability. We have the ability to take points from all of our remaining fixtures, so the dream of Europe is still alive.

Olly: A good win but made hard work of it. It is still a worry the number of chances that are missed. At least they have momentum for the final games and, if they keep it up, Europe next year is a real possibility.

Andrew: So good to see Brighton getting results against the lower teams too. The recent consistency must silence Fabian Hurzeler's critics.

Steve: Our quest for European football continues. Though the performance wasn't the best, the result is all that matters. But for a couple of very tight offside decisions this result may have been so different!

  13. Burnley 0-2 Brighton: What Parker saidpublished at 20:36 BST 11 April

    Media caption,

Burnley manager Scott Parker, speaking to BBC Sport after his side's defeat by Brighton: "Frustrating. Probably from the result really, I don't think there was much in the game. We concede the goal at the wrong time in the first half. The fine, fine margins of the game obviously with the two goals disallowed, which are of the finest, of finest of margins. It was an even game really but the clinical moments we had we didn't manage to execute. There's some familiarity of the year in terms of that."

On Burnley's two disallowed goals: "I think that's how you see football really now. There's a perfection to the game. People will always fall back and reference well it's the correct decision. If that's what it is, that's what it is. I get we're in a world where everyone wants perfection in every walk of life, and football is certainly turning out that way. But from my side when I look back on it, from a still, it doesn't actually look like offside.

"Now, of course, I get that you can reference that obviously it was from the angle. But that's ultimately the way it is. We're ultimately falling back on technology, or AI, or some gadget that will prove a human being wrong in that sense. That's the way it is. That's disapointing. It's by the finest of finest of knee caps. That's the way it's going.

"I see a team fully committed. We can be critical of this team in certain moments on the lack of quality or lack of clinical moments. But I didn't see a team you can be critical of in terms of effort. "

    Did you know?

    • Burnley have failed to score in 12 Premier League games this season, with only Wolves (16) and Nottingham Forest (14) failing to score in more this term.

Burnley supporters did not hide their frustration at the final whistle as their club fell to a 2-0 defeat by Brighton at Turf Moor - a fourth loss in five matches.

But their players showed plenty of spirit and made things extremely difficult for the Seagulls before being ultimately beaten by a clinical display from their opponents.

They had the ball in the net in both halves as Jaidon Anthony and Bashir Humphreys thought they had scored, but lengthy video assistant referee (VAR) reviews were needed to chalk off both strikes by narrow margins.

Dutch striker Zian Flemming, who has been one of the rare bright sparks in an otherwise disappointing campaign for Burnley, was denied an equaliser by a good save from Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen with his legs.

In total, the Clarets attempted 10 shots, with five on target - compared to Brighton's six on target from 13 attempts.

Now with only one win in their last 23 league matches and 12 points from safety after West Ham's 4-0 win against bottom club Wolves on Friday, the Clarets face a daunting challenge to avoid an immediate return to the second tier.

The only hope of a miraculous escape is the fact they play three sides in the bottom six - Nottingham Forest, Leeds and Wolves - in the run-in.

Burnley boss Scott Parkers makes four changes from a 3-1 defeat by Burnley before the international break.

Lesley Ugochukwu, Marcus Edwards, Hjalmar Ekdal and Florentino Luis all start ahead of Hannibal Mejbri, Kyle Walker, Lyle Foster and suspended Josh Laurent.

Burnley XI: Dubravka, Hartman, Esteve, Ugochukwu, Edwards, Anthony, Humphreys, Florentino, Ekdal, Flemming, Ward-Prowse

Subs: Weiss, Walker, Worrall, Larsen, Foster, Tchaouna, Pires, Broja, Tresor

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler, who will watch this game from the stands, has made two changes from the 2-1 win against Liverpool on 21 March.

Lewis Dunk is suspended, so Olivier Boscagli takes his place in the defence while Yasin Ayari comes in for James Milner.

Brighton XI: Verbruggen, Van Hecke, Minteh, Hinshelwood, Welbeck, Boscagli, Kadioglu, Gomez, Ayari, Wieffer, Gross

  16. Sutton's predictions: Burnley v Brightonpublished at 11:30 BST 11 April

Chris Sutton smiling on a yellow and black background with 'Sutton's predictions' written below his face

Brighton are another team who had hit a bit of form when the season paused.

After going through a sticky patch under Fabian Hurzeler, they have won four of their past five games - and I can see them winning this one too.

Burnley are always competitive, and you can see them digging in again at home, but that approach has not translated into many positive results.

As I've said for a while now, they are going down. It is more about what happens next season and whether they stick with manager Scott Parker to try to get them back up. Their fans don't appear to be convinced by him.

    Sutton's prediction: 0-1
