Grumbles and frustration turned to hope on the Bramall Lane terraces at the end of that half.

A late flurry of chances for The Blades should have given them the lead. A good save, two clearances off the line, and a shot inches wide among them. Chris Wilder must be wondering if he has upset all the Gods for this bad luck, and this poor form.

The first 35 minutes was, to be blunt, pretty ordinary. I had a 0.04 v 0.13 xG at one point.

Both these sides are on a rotten run, and you can tell, but QPR will feel lucky the second half has started goalless.

The chance of a second for Ipswich early in the second half as a corner is punched by Lawrence Vigouroux but Dara O'Shea's subsequent header is met by Kasey McAteer who can only turn over the crossbar from close range.

You'd say Charlton probably had the better of the first-half chances but, crucially, the scoreline remains goalless.

I'm sorry but this will never do... eight games and five of them goalless at the break? After 10 goals in three games at lunchtime?

Compared to last week - which ended up being Will Still's final game in charge here - Southampton look so much better going forward as a team.

Defensively they have still had a fair few scares in the game but there just seems to be so much urgency to get the ball forward when in possession.

They are also moving the ball around much quicker, this has been a thoroughly entertaining first half from both sides.

There wasn't too much to note in the first half. Norwich have tried to pump balls into the penalty area and Leicester are still struggling with their lack of chance creation.

They began brightly enough but couldn't fashion a real chance and Mike Johnston's curler past the post is as close as they have come, while Oxford have grown in stature and Cameron Brannagan drew a fine save from Josh Griffiths while Will Lankshear saw decent penalty appeals turned down before the break.
