The big question vexing London City today will be how to stop Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw.

The Jamaica striker has been in stunning form for Manchester City netting on 12 occasions, including three match-opening goals.

She has found the net more than any other player in the league in 2025-26.

City won the most recent WSL meeting between the sides, triumphing 4-1 at Joie Stadium in September. Shaw bagged a double in that one.

London City Lionesses are looking for their first WSL win under new boss Eder Maestre, but getting it against a Manchester City side 17 points ahead of them in the table is a tall order.

Despite the size of the task facing them, Maestre wants his players to play with belief.

"When you play a team in first position the ambition has to be high. You need to be with the dream you are able to beat them," he said.

"We have the mentality of 'why not' [can't we] have a good result against City.

"We need to play with the belief that we are going to win. That's the confidence I want to see. Players going into the duels with the energy and conviction that they are going to win every action."

  6. Foxes hunt elusive second goalpublished at 11:48 GMT 25 January

Leicester City v West Ham (11:55 GMT)

No WSL club has scored fewer goals than Leicester City this season.

Each of their seven goals has come in different games - as they've never managed to put more than one past a league opponent.

The good news is that this afternoon they face a team who are used to shipping goals.

West Ham have the worst defensive record in the league, having conceded 29 goals in 12 WSL games.

Is today the day when the Foxes score more than one for the first time since May 2025?

Leicester fans could get a first glimpse of their new big-name signing Alisha Lehmann today, who joined the club from Como on Thursday.

The former West Ham, Everton, Aston Villa and Juventus forward has certainly made an impression on Foxes boss Rick Passmoor, and starts today on the bench.

"Within two hours on the pitch, she immediately understood what we wanted," Passmoor said.

"Her ability speaks for itself. She can exploit space, get beyond people and deliver crosses - and she's diligent out of possession.

"You must be good going both ways and I've already seen that in her work rate, personality and character. She's fitted straight in."

Liverpool needed some confidence and some momentum from the FA Cup - and they needed that 6-0 scoreline as well.

Five different goalscorers was a real boost for them and Denise O’Sullivan scoring on debut too.

With Martha Thomas joining on loan as well, they now have something different upfront. They needed to go out in January to fight to stay out of that relegation play-off.

We have a great opportunity [to increase the lead] but at the same time, we play a very strong team today. They will challenge us 100% and we need maximum effort to get that result.

"We did a very good game [in the 1-0 defeat by Chelsea in the League Cup semi-final] and deserved more out of it. But that's how it is sometimes. We are of course disappointed we didn't get the win, but the focus is 100% to bounce back today."

Manchester City suffered a frustrating 1-0 loss to Chelsea in the semi-finals of the League Cup on Wednesday, but manager Andree Jeglertz expects his side to pick themselves up.

"I don't need to lift the mood among the players, they do that themselves," the Swedish coach said.

"We know we are a very good team - we showed that on Wednesday. Unfortunately we didn't convert our chances, but the mood is OK, even though there is disappointment. We know the qualities we have."
