The traditional British bulldog captain is not the only way to lead so it's unfair to criticise Fernandes for not being that kind of leader. Unfortunately the problem is he doesn't seem to know any other kind of leadership either.

A change has to happen.
Manchester United kept three clean sheets in Manuel Ugarte's first three games for the club.
But he was arguably at fault for Tottenham's opener in a 3-0 defeat and hasn't played since.

Ugarte - the man bought in to finally solve United's midfield problems - is yet again not playing? How is he going to embed into the team and get used to the Premier League if he isn't going to play? Ridiculously slow integration as usual from Ten Hag, it's painful.

I don't think there's a risk Cole Palmer will outgrow Chelsea.
For me he would be naive to leave Chelsea and to go somewhere else.
He's something special, but he needs to do it for a longer periods of time. I am of the generation that you need to do it for a consistent long period of time.

Cole Palmer is one of the most in-form players.
I'm a Chelsea fan and I love watching him. A lot gets spoken about what he does with the ball, he sees passes other player don’t see.
Without the ball he is equally as good and he doesn’t mid doing the defensive part.
You could argue he is the most in-form player in the Premier League.

Cole Palmer couldn't get in the Man City team and do what he wanted with the players there.
Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden notably are the two players who made it a stumbling block for him. He is an incredible talent, he is a star man in that team and that makes him better - it gives him an aura.
It is great that we have seen the young talent come through City's academy. Full credit to Chelsea they took a punt with the price they paid and the contract length.

In fairness, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is not going to use his programme notes to say today's opponents are a bit rubbish and after Wednesday, we should hammer them.
However, he is drilling home the notion Manchester United are not to be taken lightly.
"No doubt they (United) are one of the best squads in the league, a good experienced manager, filled with good players, and adding this huge tradition that also becomes a winning mentality and survival instinct in difficult moments," he said.
We shall see.

I have to say that nothing, absolutely nothing sparks fear from that Utd team. Just about every position needs updating. Way too many mediocre, overrated players. What a contrast to the elite team 10 years ago.

The Dutchman takes United to Villa Park today after Harry Maguire's last-gasp leveller rescued a 3-3 draw in their Europa League game at Porto on Thursday.
United blew a 2-0 lead to trail 3-2, which looked like pushing Ten Hag closer to the brink.
Emery said this week: "I respect him a lot. I have to respect him because he has beaten me more than I’ve beaten him. He's a winner - they won the FA Cup. He is a very good coach. The demands there are huge demands but he is doing a process."

James is right in his assessment that United always seem to beat Villa.
They did the double over them last season thanks to two dramatic turnarounds.
In fact, Aston Villa have won just one of their past 25 Premier League home games against Manchester United with the victory coming in Unai Emery's first game in charge in November 2022.
United have won 40 Premier League games against Villa, with only the Old Trafford side beating Everton (41) more often in the competition's history.

United always beat Villa. Our minds will still be on the win against Bayern, and half the team are out or carrying injuries. Sadly I think the rest of the league will be thanking us when we allow ten Hag a stay of execution.

I don’t think Bruno Fernandes should be captain.
When you’re a captain your under a greater microscope. Everything comes through you, with some players it becomes a burden and looking at Fernandes I think the armband has become a weight.

In the summer the Man Utd board were clearly speaking to other managers and it seems that is the case again with Inzaghi and now Tuchel linked. This massively undermines ETH. Yes, we can blame ETH but the players are probably thinking he'll be gone soon and so there is less buy in from them

Having lost consecutive Premier League home games against Tottenham without scoring in 2021-22 and 2022-23, Brighton won this exact fixture 4-2 last season.
Just one of the 14 Premier League meetings between Brighton and Tottenham has finished as a draw (1-1 in April 2018), with Spurs winning nine to the Seagulls’ four.
Brighton and Hove Albion have drawn their last two home Premier League matches, last drawing three in a row in November 2023. Indeed, since the start of last season, no side has drawn more home games than Brighton (8).
Tottenham Hotspur have won their last two Premier League games, last winning three in a row in December last year. Spurs have netted three goals in each victory (3-1 vs Brentford, 3-0 vs Man Utd), last winning three consecutively while scoring 3+ goals in April 2022.

After not scoring or assisting in any of his first 31 Premier League appearances, Brighton’s Carlos Baleba scored and assisted in their 4-2 defeat to Chelsea. He is the youngest Cameroonian to both score and assist in a Premier League match (20 years, 269 days).
Since the start of last season, the only Englishmen with more Premier League goals than Dominic Solanke (21) are Cole Palmer (28) and Ollie Watkins (23). The Spurs forward is looking to find the net in three consecutive appearances for the first time since December 2023.
