Chelsea don’t tend to lose FA Cup ties against lower-league opposition these days.

The Blues have progressed from their last 24 FA Cup meetings with sides from a lower division since they suffered a shock loss to Bradford City in January 2015.

They sit fifth in the Premier League after maintaining their push for Champions League football by thrashing Aston Villa in midweek – their ninth win in 14 games in a promising start to Liam Rosenior’s tenure.

Speaking this week, Rosenior said winning trophies is "why I am here", adding: "It's what you dream of. The FA Cup is an amazing competition. What we have to do [on Saturday is] we have to concentrate on Wrexham and not the final."

Make no mistake, the unique way Wrexham are owned means most games tend to have more of a media presence than the usual Championship game.

But this is another level.

As well as the game being screened at home, there are 74 other countries that will have live pictures from the Cae Ras.

There are cameras dotted up and down the touchlines where Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac have been spending a bit of time pre-match.

Here in the commentary positions we've got a bit of local star power too as part of the BBC Wales coverage, including an FA Cup winner in the shape of local boy Barry Horne and a member of the side that shocked Arsenal here way back in 1992, Waynne Phillips.

Wrexham

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson, speaking to BBC Sport: "Before the Forest game, we spoke to the lads about this being our chance to create some memories for our supporters. We have worked hard to get to this round. Tonight is a great opportunity to test ourselves against a top-class team."

Wrexham's rapid rise under the ownership of Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac has been well documented, to say the least.

It is five years since Reynolds and Mac took control of the north Wales club in 2021 for about £2m.

They have since invested millions to take the club from the fifth‑tier National League to the Championship - with very real hopes of securing Premier League promotion this year.

Today, they pause their pursuit of that goal to test themselves against Chelsea, potential opponents next season with Wrexham in the Championship play-off positions with 11 games remaining.

"You never know," says Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson as he weighs up his side's chances this evening.

The Championship club are full of confidence right now and are certainly going to give this a real go in front of their home support.

Wrexham are without wing-back Issa Kabore, with Nathan Broadhead only fit enough for the bench.

Both had been injury doubts before kick-off and Sam Smith has been preferred to Kieffer Moore up front.

It's a busy week for Wrexham with homes matches on Tuesday and Friday against Hull City and Swansea.

Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez have been given the evening off with a trip to Paris Saint-Germain to come on Wednesday in the Champions League.

Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are in attendance for Wrexham vs Chelsea. There is around 300 media in attendance, including broadcasters, which is a lot more than the usual 80 that Wrexham have as standard for Championship matches.

One figure at the club said this is basically a dry run for what a Premier League match might be like in terms of media interest.

Can Wrexham add another memorable chapter to their recent history as they continue to rise up the divisions under Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac?

Premier League Chelsea are the visitors to the Racecourse Ground this evening as the eyes of the world fall on north-east Wales.

Wrexham were still a non-league side as recently as three years ago.

But there are now only 20 league places between the two sides as Phil Parkinson's men chase a place at English football’s top table.

With their Premier League push on hold this weekend, they will seek to produce a statement FA Cup upset with a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals on the line...

I think Arsenal will win two trophies this season - the league and a domestic cup.

Arsenal

Arsenal Mikel Arteta, speaking to TNT Sports: "It was a proper FA Cup game and credit to Mansfield the stadium and the atmosphere the fans created there was a bit of banter.

"They made it really difficult for us. If not, you have to be more ruthless in front of goal than we were today.

"The margin becomes smaller, and you give hope to the opposition. We made a mistake on the goal which cost us the momentum and belief for them. Overall, happy with the performance.

"We have two 16-year-olds in the starting line-up, which I don't think has ever happened, and I am very proud of them.

"I think everyone feels involved. We have the desire that, game by game, we can get closer to the things that we can achieve."

Mansfield Town

Mansfield boss Nigel Clough, speaking to TNT Sports: "The effort they had was incredible, and we wanted to make it a proper cup tie and a tough game for Arsenal and make them uncomfortable, and I thought we did that.

"Overall, the lads were fantastic. We cut in from this angle a bit. You need a break in the box. We set the tone earlier on. We didn't want this 80% Arsenal having possession and controlling the game, or they would have picked us off.

"The number of efforts we have had today is absolutely brilliant."

On Mansfield goalscorer Will Evans: "Very close to starting probably on Wednesday. He was starting, then we thought to go with Tyler [Roberts].

"I am extremely proud of everything and how close we got."

The biggest compliment Arsenal could have paid was with the forward line that they ended the game with - Saka, Eze and Madueke. They are stacked and Mansfield still caused them problems.

Mansfield Town

Mansfield forward Will Evans speaking to TNT Sports: "I wanted to prove a point today - not just to the team but to myself as well. It's typical isn't it, for me to have a league goal drought and then come on for a half against Arsenal and have a goal against them.

"Games come thick and fast. We are onto the next game. So you don't really have much time to take it all in. One day, I might just go through my old goals and enjoy them. But we got a shift again on Tuesday night [against Reading]."
