Aston Villa

Aston Villa attacker Emiliano Buendia, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "We knew it was a difficult game for the third round of the cup. To come here away is difficult, they're a top team, they're struggling a little bit at the moment but we know the quality that they have.

"We had a really good first half. We pushed a lot, we had clear chances, we were 2-0 up at half time. In the second half, we dropped the intensity a little bit, they had chances because they have the quality. But we kept fighting and I think we deserved the win."

On the altercation at the end of the game: "I have no idea. The first thing I did at the final whistle was go to the floor because it was a high intensity game so I was quite tired after a lot of running. I don't know what happened but I think it's football so I think it stays on the pitch and we move on."

On playing in Villa's midfield: "With the structure we have, it's good for Morgan and me to play together. We try to find pockets behind the midfielders. We enjoyed the first half, we created chances, I think the second goal was clear as well. It was a good game."

On Villa's limit this season: "We go game by game. Today was the first FA Cup round for us. We need to stay focussed in each competition, fight for everything and keep looking forward. We have a week to rest and then face Everton at home, it's going to be a really tough game"

Aston Villa

Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "We wanted to build on the first half. We were good in the first half. Second half, Spurs came out really well. They're a good team, they're at home.

"They played really well second half, we had to dig deep, we had to work and defend our box. We did well and I think we deserved the win in the end."

On his goal: "It was good build up play then Emi just flicked it to me and I wanted to get the shot off as soon as I could. Luckily it went in and I was really happy."

On his form: "I'm loving it. I'm feeling good, I'm in a good bit of form, I'm feeling positive and confident but so are the team and that's the most important thing. As a team and as a collective we're playing really well at the moment."

On Villa's FA Cup ambitions: "We were bitterly disappointed that we couldn't go the whole way last year, having got so far. We've set out to try and do as well as we can.

"This was a big test for us in the third round and I thought we overcame it really well.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery, speaking to BBC Match of the Day:

"The first 45 minutes, we controlled the game like we planned. We created chances and we scored two goals and we dominated and we defended very well as well. The second half, Spurs started pushing more, they scored a goal. Progressively in the second half, we were feeling better on the field. Again, good positioning and dominating with the ball. Not creating big chances but getting the control of the game like we planned and how we did in the first half.

"Of course, in 90 minutes overall, I think we deserved to get this win and of course how the players responded on the field, showed the mentality we're building is really fantastic."

On his midfield:

"Fantastic. Both players fantastic, and today played 90 minutes. Of course, the qualities and the skills of Buendia are really helping us a lot. And today, playing 90 minutes, with his versatile position, playing in a left side and inside as a 10, we did both during the match. In each position he's performing very well and his commitment to help and get his task and focus, overall, like we are doing in the team, is really fantastic.

"Especially today, the performance of Morgan and Buendia was really fantastic, and each one can feel comfortable playing with their qualities."

On making six changes:

"Yes, we need players. We're in the Premier League, the Europa League, and this competition we are respecting a lot. Because last year we played the semi-final. There are thousands of supporters here with us giving us responsibility and we are showing as well our wish to get... The FA Cup is way for a trophy, a way for Europe as well. Secondly, how we are managing the squad, different players, different moments, some players injured, some players coming back from injury like today Pau Torres, and we need players for the next matches, the next competition, Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup."

On Kamara issue:

"I don't have an update. Tomorrow, we check him and hopefuly it's not something important."

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "The game was never gone to be honest. But it was tough first half where we didn't play really well. Didn't create a lot. But in the second half, we pushed and did way better. We came back but unfortunately, we didn't get the equaliser."

On what changed in the second half: "Some guys spoke up at half time. We knew the first half wasn't good enough. We needed to push. The gaffer also talked about what we needed to do differently. I think that worked out better."

On the fracas at the end of the game: "I think it's good passion. But we shouldn't be bringing this passion only when we are behind. If we start a game like this, it will be a whole different game. We were nowhere near in the first half like what we did in the second. We need to do this for the full 90 minutes. Then we will be a totally different team. We need to do it from the first minute and that is the problem at the moment.

"We have had too many ups and downs. We have too many games that we play at a good level and then there are games where we are way below our level. That's what we need to work on and be more consistent."

Tottenham Hotspur

More from Tottenham boss Thomas Frank speaking after the defeat: "Our second half was exactly how we wanted it to be. Energy, intensify, tempo, playing forward and the fans pushed us on. We got a goal and had chances for a second one. Unfortunately, we didn't get it and in the end, it wasn't enough. If we had played two halves like that, we would have won the game."

On Spurs fans booing the team at half time: "Of course I understand the frustration. Understandable. But I also think what was every nice to see in the second half was how unified the team and the fans were together. They fed off each other's energy. How we played and went forward - that's what we need to build going forward.

"In the second half, the passion, character and intensity that we played with, that's what we need to bring every game and every 90 minutes.

"It was exactly the opposite against Sunderland. We started fantastically in the first half but couldn't keep up in the second half. If we can put two halves like that together, then it would look much better."

On whether Richarlison has sustained a hamstring injury: "Yeah, it looks like that. We don't know yet of course.

"It's a bigger question for the football authorities. We have had a very tight schedule with five games in 13 days. four in 10 days for the third time this season. That's something we need to look into. Two off days in between games is very short turnaround. It's not just us, but there are a lot of clubs who are dealing with that."
