    FT: Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea

    Arsenal

Arsenal have now won 7 points from losing positions in the Women's Super League this season, more than any other team.

While that might feel like scant consolation at the moment, we all know every point can make a difference come the end of the campaign.

So here's how those results have impacted the WSL table.

Aston Villa's 1-0 victory sees them shift their points tally into double figures, while United's loss keeps them in third on 17.

Arsenal's are two further back with their point, while champions Chelsea move a point further clear of Man City at the top.

The Citizens know that a win at Everton tomorrow will see them take the summit.

Taking that as a 3-1 win for Arsenal. Two disallowed goals that should have been allowed. Shame the points table won't reflect it

If there was ever a game which shows VAR is needed in the WSL this was it!

That was unbelievable. I did not know which way that game was going to go and credit to Arsenal for getting themselves back in the game. It was against the run of play, but Russo, who hasn't been involved too much today, stepped up.

It has been a wild couple of minutes.

    Phewwww.

Time to take a few deep breaths I think.

We'll bring you reaction from both of those results shortly. I'm sure Renee Slegers will have plenty to say about those two big decisions that went against her Arsenal side.

    It's all over.

Raucous boos greet the final whistle as Arsenal and Chelsea are made to settle for a point apiece from a quite thrilling London derby encounter.

    HUGE win for Aston Villa.

The Villans claim a second win of the season and in doing so inflict a first defeat of the campaign on Manchester United to dent their early title aspirations.

My heart is in my mouth, I don't know which way this game is going to go at the minute.

    Manchester United 0-1 Aston Villa

My oh my. The United keeper drifts into the middle unmarked and Villa don't know how to deal with her. Villa are fortunate that her jump leaves her inches shy of meeting the corner into the box as the chance disappears.

Goalkeeper up from the back klaxon! Phallon Tullis-Joyce is being used as an auxiliary striker at this late corner.

Renee Slegers will feel hard done by if they don't get the win because it has been a lot of disappointment to take.

It's another deflating moment for the Arsenal fans. Frida Maanum went to the corner and was showing how much it meant to her.

    It does look tight.

  14. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 13:53 GMT 8 November 2025

    Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea

    Bubble officially burst.

The offside flag is up on the far side so Arsenal have been denied that likely winner.

Replays showed that Maanum was onside though...

    Bedlam at the Emirates!?!

The hosts break and Frida Maanum is set in behind and has the composure to wait for Hannah Hampton to rush out of her goal before dinking a delightful finish over her and into the back of the net.

  16. INJURY TIMEpublished at 13:51 GMT 8 November 2025

Half way through stoppage time at Leigh and it's getting desperate for United.

Their chance of cutting Chelsea's lead in the title race is slipping away.

    Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea

    Chloe Morgan
Former Crystal Palace goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

    Unbelievable.

Alessia Russo has been so quiet and then in the integral moment and Hannah Hampton gets a glove to it. She'll be super disappointed, but at the same time, Russo was at the right place at the right time to salvage this game for them.

  18. Postpublished at 13:49 GMT 8 November 2025

    Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea

That goal was Russo's 50th in the Women's Super League by the way. An incredible landmark to reach.

Replays showed more than a slight suspicion of offside but the Gunners and their fans won't care. They'll feel that justice has been done after that harsh handball call that ruled out Blackstenius' earlier leveller.

    Alessia Russo (87 mins)

Arsenal finally have their goal and it's England forward Alessia Russo who's got it.

The forward was sharpest to react to a loose ball after a shot cannoned off a Chelsea defender back into the box, and she slammed the ball at Lionesses colleague Hannah Hampton who simply couldn't keep it out.

That was such a close opportunity and Arsenal are doing everything but putting the ball in the back of the net.

The crowd are really pushing them to get this goal.
