Falkirk manager John McGlynn tells BBC Scotland: "It's a fair result overall. Don't think there was much in it and no one did enough to win it.

"They pressed very well, we expected that. We knew they'd run harder. That's where the mistake came from. It cost us a goal.

"We showed great character and mentality to score the equaliser. A great ball in from Ethan Ross and a great header from Barney, so I'm delighted to go down the road with a point.

"They [Aberdeen] worked harder and ran harder than they have done in a number of weeks. That is credit to them. Maybe we're just in the wrong place at the wrong time."

It is also getting tighter at the top in the fourth tier, with East Kilbride's lead over Spartans down to two points and the Edinburgh side having a game in hand.

The leaders lost to fourth-top Stranraer and Spartans looked to be heading to defeat at home to Clyde.

However, two second-half goals gave them a 2-1 win that probably ends the third-top visitors' title hopes given they are now 10 points adrift of Spartans.

It's getting tighter at the top of the third tier again thanks to a couple of late goals.

Visitors Cove equalised to deny leaders Caley Thistle victory, while Stenhousemuir struck late to win away to Peterhead.

It means Inverness and Stenny are level on points, with the Highlanders ahead on goal difference and with a game in hand.

In the second tier, St Johnstone have moved eight points clear of Partick Thistle again after their win over Ross County, who return to the bottom after Airdrieonians' draw with Arbroath.

Arbroath find themselves eight behind Thistle in third, with Dunfermline narrowing the gap to five points after their convincing win over derby rivals Raith Rovers.

The Pars are now four clear of Ayr and Queen's Park after their rivals for the final promotion play-off place drew 1-1.

Our reporter - and St Mirren fan - Chick Young has just been on Sportsound giving an update on the Paisley club's search for a manager after Stephen Robinson's move to Aberdeen.

It is early days, but he says that former Buddies captain and midfielder Stephen McGinn, who is assistant to John McGlynn, is one name being considered by the board.

Chick reckons Aston Villa and Scotland midfielder John's big brother would be a good choice. Are other St Mirren fans of a similar opinion? Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no.

Livingston have failed to win in their last 28 games in the Premiership, their longest winless streak in the competition since the division was rebranded in 2013-14.

Celtic keep coming up with answers at this crucial stage of the campaign.

It's not the champion-esque form of other title-winning campaigns, but in terms of getting over the line, Celtic are producing results at just the right time.

The outcome really heaps pressure on Hearts and Rangers.

Motherwell offered so much as they have all season. They may well argue about the penalty award, but Emmanuel Longelo did switch off at a crucial moment and it undid them.

As did the concession of the equaliser when they were caught out at the back - as they were on their last visit to Celtic Park.

So many positives for them, but in the end, any outside chance of an unlikely title seems to have gone.

Young striker Barney Stewart has scored six goals in the Premiership this season after his equaliser against Aberdeen - more than any other Falkirk player.

They had to come from behind against Motherwell, but Celtic have moved to within two points of Hearts before the Premiership leaders visit Kilmarnock in the evening kick-off.

For fourth-top Motherwell, their outside hopes of the title have gone despite a dominant first-half performance.

Celtic also move four points clear of Rangers, who play tomorrow.

Falkirk move a point closer to securing that top-six place after denying Stephen Robinson a winning start as Aberdeen head coach.

Meanwhile, Hibs are now six behind Motherwell after being held by Livingston, who are now six adrift of Kilmarnock at the bottom.

Celtic take a huge three points as they come out on top in an entertaining encounter at Parkhead.

Motherwell started brightly and fully deserved their lead when Elijah Just punished a mistake at the back and finished clinically to give his side the advantage.

Celtic drew level when pouncing on slack play at the back from the visitors, with Yang Hyun-Ju perfectly placed to score.

The match turned in the second half when Celtic were awarded a penalty, with Emmanuel Longelo dismissed for holding Daizen Maeda at a corner. Tomas Cvancara did the business from 12 yards and Yang then got his second when racing on to a ball through the middle and smacking a shot past Callum Ward.

The defending champions have now narrowed the gap on Hearts to just two points, with the league leaders facing Kilmarnock at Rugby Park this evening.

Stephen Robinson's debut as Aberdeen head coach is ruined by an 88th-minute Falkirk equaliser, but John McGlynn's side will have to wait to have their Premiership top-six place confirmed.

In a game that often lacked the quality in front of goal, it was Kevin Nibset who broke the deadlock for Aberdeen as the Dons striker pounced on a Scott Bain error.

But it was Falkirk striker Barney Stewart who would have the final say, with the on-form youngster once again writing his name into the backpage headlines as he nodded home.
