Former Aston Villa and Man Utd striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's a lovely bit of skill from Wirtz. He feints once, he feints twice and then it does take a huge deflection and goes in. The keeper has no chance. He deserves that bit of luck just for being positive.

Wirtz gets his goal. The crowd erupts.

That's what you need to do, be more aggressive, be on the front foot and that all came from Curtis Jones.

  6. 'That feels like a big relief'published at 21:56 GMT 3 December 2025

    Liverpool 1-1 Sunderland

    Mike Minay
BBC Radio 5 Live commentator at Anfield

Wirzt has his first goal for Liverpool. It has been a long time coming since his big move in the summer. He tricked his way into the area, got it on his left boot, and with a little bit of space it's found a way past Roefs. There might have been a deflection but he doesn't care. Anfield doesn't care. That feels like a big relief.

    His first Liverpool goal!

Seriously! This Liverpool team are a pale shadow of the team that Klopp bequeathed to Slot. They have no pace and can’t defend. Van Dick an Salah are busted flushes. Why they let Diaz leave is anyone’s guess. It’s all ponderous tosh frankly. Bring back Jurgen…if he’d have us!

  13. 'It's the wrong decision from van Dijk'published at 21:51 GMT 3 December 2025

    Liverpool 0-1 Sunderland

    Steph Houghton
Former Manchester City and England captain on BBC Radio 5 Live

Van Dijk gives the ball away and then he just drops off. It's the wrong decision. He needs to go to the ball. Him not making the decision means that no one else knows what to do.

If he goes to the ball then he forces Talbi out wide, whereas he gets the opportunity to shoot on goal. The way Sunderland have been playing at the moment that was more than likely going to hit the target.

    Leeds 3-1 Chelsea

A nightmare for [Enzo] Maresca. A dream for Leeds.

They've kept pushing, they've always been a threat.

Chelsea have given them encouragement after encouragement after encouragement.

The centre-backs have been sloppy all night. You've just got to welly it up the pitch, what are you doing trying to control it in there?

That front two for Leeds have beaten Chelsea up for 72 minutes.

Liverpool's biggest mistake of the summer was not signing Marc Guehi. Their defence has looked awful this year.
