There's a Wolves badge in the centre of the pitch at Molineux with the phrase 'fear nothing' underneath.

I bet they fear relegation, though.

Sorry, Wolves fans, that was probably a bit harsh.

Sunderland's advantage has not only been the stellar recruitment, but the fact that they're just so up for it every match. You rarely see a team so unbothered by a stadium or scoreline. Tonight they're facing another team of late winners, I'm expecting the second half to outperform the first.

  4. Can Sunderland stay above Liverpool?published at 19:17 GMT 3 December 2025

    Liverpool v Sunderland (20:15 GMT)

Sixth-placed Sunderland come into this game above Liverpool in the table by one point.

Black Cats boss Roger le Bris said: "Every team can struggle - this league is tough.

"They play in the Champions League as well. They were strong against West Ham, they were dominant as expected. We will have to show the best version of Sunderland to be competitive."

Reds boss Arne Slot added: "Big compliment to the manager because they brought in a lot of new players and they started really well.

"A very hard-working team with a very clear identity of how they want to play on and off the ball."

    Chelsea

Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Sunday was creditable in the sense that Enzo Maresca's side earned a point against the league leaders despite playing almost an hour with 10 men.

Moises Caicedo's first-half red card was the fourth that Chelsea have received in just 13 league games this season - at least double the tally of any other team - although the issue of indiscipline has undermined Maresca's men for far longer.

Since the start of 2023-24, the Blues have been given 229 yellow cards and 10 reds - both the most of any Premier League club.

Maresca called his players "outstanding" after they took the lead with 10 men against Arsenal and, although they were unable to hold on, it did demonstrate their ability to cope without Caicedo.

Chelsea have gone 1-0 up in their past eight Premier League outings, a happy tendency that has somewhat masked the costs of having a player sent off.

Should they fail to keep 11 men on the pitch on Wednesday, they may find proceedings harder than predicted given their poor record at Elland Road.

Chelsea have won just six of their 48 away league games against Leeds (drawn 13, lost 29), their worst win ratio against teams they have visited at least 20 times, after Sheffield Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Maresca has lost both of his previous league games against Leeds, while managing Leicester City in the Championship in 2023-24.

    Brentford

Eight months ago Keith Andrews applied for the manager's job, external at League Two MK Dons only for former Derby County boss Paul Warne to get the role instead.

In an unexpected turn of events, the former Republic of Ireland midfielder found himself a Premier League manager after Brentford promoted their set-piece coach to head coach following Thomas Frank's departure to Tottenham.

And what a solid start Andrews has made. The Bees have 19 points from 13 games and will leapfrog Frank's Tottenham if they avoid defeat tonight.

Ironically, Brentford go to Tottenham on Saturday (15:00 GMT).

I think Sunderland have surprised this season. They've come up and done absolutely brilliantly with their French manager Regis Le Bris but Anfield can be a daunting place to go.

I think that always the team that goes up the main priority is stay up then the next thing is to see if you can build from that. I know the owner thinks about making another step forward but in your first season back in the Premier League to be able to qualify for European football, that would be more than amazing.

Even if in the end, because we all know it's a long run, we're not halfway through the season yet and it's been amazing and the fans up there have been loving the results and sometimes you can get carried away bit, maybe because of these kinds of questions, if in the end they finish top half of the leaderboard then I think that's already an amazing achievement.

    Burnley

Burnley defender Maxime Esteve, speaking to Sky Sports: "We know we are in a tough situation because we need points and we are in 19th position at the moment, but we need to look forward to tonight. A good result and we will be out of the relegation zone, but we just need a good performance for everyone and for the fans."

On what is missing from the side: "To be more killer in both attacking zones on the pitch, both defensively and offensively, and maybe then we get something positive tonight."

  12. Hostile return for Gibbs-White?published at 19:07 GMT 3 December 2025

    Wolves v Nott'm Forest (19:30 GMT)

It will no doubt be a hostile return to Molineux for Morgan Gibbs-White.

The former Wolves midfielder returns to his old club as they continue to endure a torrid season with just two points from 13 matches.

It hasn't been much better over in Nottingham but Forest do seem to have turned a corner since Sean Dyche's arrival at the club and they currently sit 16th with 12 points.

Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin replaces injured winger Daniel James as Leeds make four changes from the 3-2 weekend defeat to Manchester City.

Under pressure manager Daniel Farke appears to have moved into a back five for Chelsea.

The visitors have made five changes with Moises Caicedo serving the first of a three game ban after his red card in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal.

Leeds XI: Perri, Bogle, Bijol, Rodon, Struijk, Gudmundsson, Stach, Tanaka, Ampadu, Nmecha, Calvert-Lewin

Subs: Darlow, Justin, Gruev, Bornauw, Aaronson, Gnonto, Harrison, Okafor, Piroe

  14. Premier League survival still possible for Burnleypublished at 19:05 GMT 3 December 2025

Burnley v Crystal Palace (19:30 GMT)

    Burnley

Last time out, Burnley thought they had earned just a fourth away point of the campaign courtesy of Zian Flemming's 85th-minute penalty, only for Brentford to restore their lead just a minute later to win.

The net result is that Burnley begin a busy December with 10 points after 13 matches. Although that leaves Scott Parker's side 19th in the table, they remain just one point from safety in a closely fought bottom half.

The Clarets can also take solace from the record of newly promoted teams who have made similar starts to Burnley this season.

Seven promoted sides have had 10 points or fewer at this stage of a Premier League season and gone on to survive.

Liverpool make just the one change from the side who beat West Ham 2-0, with Andy Robertson replacing Milos Kerkez at left-back.

That means Mohamed Salah remains benched.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Gomez, Van Dijk, Konate, Robertson, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Wirtz, Gakpo, Isak.

Subs: Mamardashvili, Endo, Kerkez, Salah, Chiesa, Jones, Ekitike, Nyoni, Ngumoha.

Sunderland make two changes from their win over Bournemouth. Trai Hume and Brian Brobbey replace Bertrand Traore and Wilson Isidor.

Sunderland XI: Roefs, Mukiele, Ballard, Alderete, Reinildo, Xhaka, Sadiki, Hume, Le Fee, Talbi, Brobbey.

On whether the plan is to stop Arsenal or play their own game: "That is part of it I would say, we know they are very dominant on the ball. We will try to press very hard and let's just see. We are getting better from game to game and I think everyone sees that."
