  11. 'Decision to bring Salah back in gets tougher and tougher'published at 20:41 GMT 3 December 2025

    Liverpool 0-0 Sunderland

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool and Aston Villa defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

If Liverpool had been winning game after game, it would have been easier to put Salah back into the team. But because they had been on a bad run and then they go to West Ham, get the win, get the clean sheet, it almost makes it harder. Slot needs results.

This is the first time in his career that he has been dropped for back to back games. There's no rotation, let's not get around it, he's been dropped.

There is an element that if Isak starts scoring, Szobozslai is providing, Wirtz is playing as well as he did against West Ham, then the decision to bring him back in gets tougher and tougher.
