Alexander Isak made three passes and touched the ball five times. I don't think he could play 45 minutes, 10 at best, but 45 minutes? Never in a million years.

I think the problem is Arne Slot was expecting this season to have more possession and more domination, so you can get Florian Wirtz more into the game. That has not worked out the way he hoped. Wirtz is on the fringes, and he is not pulling his weight out of possession.

    Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid forward Ademola Lookman, speaking to TNT Sports: "Game of two halves, really. We stuck in and dug in and went through to the semis.

"As the game is going on, you're playing and moments happen in the game. The pause lets you switch back into gear and we were able to create a few chances.

"We got the goal and we were able to continue in that way in the second half."

  4. Ekitike injury: 'Not too good' - Slotpublished at 22:31 BST 14 April

FT: Liverpool 0-2 PSG (0-4 agg)

Arne Slot, speaking to Amazon Prime, about Hugo Ekitike's injury: "It's not too good. Let's wait and see. In the second half he went home. I've not seen him yet."

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, speaking to Uefa: "We played a very good match. We gave it our all. I have the feeling that luck wasn't on our side. I think we're growing and that we have a young, talented team that can compete for everything. We're going to keep going like this."

  6. 'We have to realise how good we can be'published at 22:29 BST 14 April

FT: Liverpool 0-2 PSG (0-4 agg)

    Liverpool

Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate, speaking to Amazon Prime: "Today we created many chances and I think on the pitch we were the better team. It was a little bit unfair it was like season, we had many chances but could not score and they had one or two chances and score."

On penalty Liverpool had overruled: "Last season we had a penalty like that. For me it was a clear penalty and was just behind the referee but he did not blow the whistle and we have to deal with that. If we got the penalty and score it would be completely different."

On Hugo Ekitike's injury: "I think it is bad. I don't know, I have heard many things, I have no word to talk about that because with the World Cup coming it is very, very hard for him and I send him my prayers."

On the performance and rest of the season: "Many things happened and we don't have to forget that. The game today meant a lot of things because against PSG, who are a bit better than last season, to make a performance like that we have to build from that and realise how good we can be.

"It is minimum standard for Liverpool to play Champions League. We have six games left and we have to give all in those six games."

As all the Atleti players head down the tunnel, Griezmann runs back to the middle of the pitch for his very own moment with the supporters.

He cheers and dances in front of them to the background noise of them chanting "Griezmann, Griezmann". A lovely moment.

Looks like he still has a few more Champions League games to play yet!

Harvey: Just for that starting line-up and formation alone, Slot should be sacked. Atrocious starting with Isak, he's nowhere near fit, always looks so lazy and should be nowhere near this team. We'll probably finish in the top five, but what a shocking season.

I don't think PSG were actually briliant tonight, but when they needed to up their game, they did it. Liverpool huffed and puffed but they were still none the wiser in terms of the tactics.

[When the penalty was given] PSG were on the ropes a bit, Liverpool threw a few balls into the box and caused a little bit of chaos. That was a real game-changer.

Did I think it was a penalty? It was a soft one, but I don't think VAR should change it.

Decelon: Crazy that Slot started Isak. If he’s not fit enough to play for more than 45 minutes, why play him at all? Weird team selection.

  13. Slot's starting XI 'complete nonsense'published at 22:15 BST 14 April

That line-up to start was complete nonsense. That second half should have been how Liverpool started this game tonight to get the crowd going. It should not have been Alexander Isak to start.

Arne Slot made errors in that first leg in his line-up in the way they set up. Tonight he cannot get it wrong. Tonight is not the night to get it wrong. He had to get it right from the beginning.

Again, for me, he let the club down, the team down and the fans down.

ShanksForTheMemories: Much better performance and effort tonight but it makes me question how that money spent on the forward line last summer was planned. We just look toothless against a half decent defence. PSG or Bayern for the title I think.

I think there was a real desire from the Liverpool team to try to get a result.

They gave the crowd something to get off their seats, but I don't know where that has been this season.

If they had competed like that for most of the season, then they would have been competing for the title.

Yes, PSG defended well at times, but I still think Liverpool are lacking some energy in wide areas.

They're missing something at the moment, but it was a better performance.

What a brilliant game of football that was.

And what a moment for Atletico Madrid and their supporters. The players head over to their fans to show their appreciation. They really carried Atleti in those final few agonising minutes.

Barca fans do the same on the opposite side of the pitch. A valiant effort from them this evening.

You have to say PSG over the two legs were far superior. Down in front of us you can see what it means to PSG. It was a difficult game for them, but they stood tall. Matvey Safonov made some crucial saves. They rode their luck, but overall it was the right result over the two legs.
