Am I missing something with Spurs? We were promised big investment, we have an injury crisis and a bench full of teenagers. So far we have signed Gallagher and a teenage left back. Where is the action?! We need a forward and a creative midfielder desperately!

Chelsea have a number of academy players leaving today.

Winger Ato Ampah is expected to join Stoke City, defender Harry McGlinchey is expected to join Sheffield United and midfielder Frankie Runham has joined Ipswich Town on loan.

Runham is expected to stay beyond the summer with his loan having an option/obligation based on conditions.

Yahya Idrissi has joined AC Milan's academy. There could be further departures as Jimi Taurainen and Sam Rak-Sakyi could leave.

  3. Wolves awaiting Torino response for Adamspublished at 12:10 GMT 2 February

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Wolves are still waiting to hear back from Torino after making an 8m euro offer for Che Adams last week.

The former Birmingham and Southampton striker is keen to return to the UK but the Serie A club are reluctant to let him leave.

Adams joined Torino from Southampton on a free transfer in 2024 and has scored 16 goals in 63 appearances.

He netted the winner in Torino's 1-0 win over Lecce on Sunday which left them 13th in Serie A.

I understand Man Utd being cautious about transfers this window, but I feel if we don't get a midfielder in we'll be in trouble fighting for 4th. Mainoo or Cas gets injured, we only really have Mount available & he'll be straight back on the treatment table after 1 match. Neves would be ideal to cover and cheap, but we need someone.

  6. Forest fail with Hackney approachpublished at 12:00 GMT 2 February
    Breaking

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Nottingham Forest have failed with an approach for Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney.

The Premier League side contacted the Championship promotion chasers on Sunday but it was immediately knocked back.

Boro are joint top of the Championship with Coventry as they look to return to the Premier League for the first time since 2016-17.

Hackney turned down a move to Ipswich in the summer after Middlesbrough agreed a £20m deal.

The 23-year-old was happy to bide his time at Boro, having come through the academy and made 145 appearances, and choose his next move carefully.

  7. Merino hard to replace for Arsenalpublished at 11:57 GMT 2 February

    Mikel MerinoImage source, Getty Images

Mikel Merino is a hard player to replace for Arsenal if they were looking for cover in the market.

The Gunners are always actively monitoring transfer opportunities but it is understood that there is nothing lined up in terms of a deal to sign a player to replace injured Merino currently.

The midfielder is set to undergo surgery on a foot injury and will be out for sustained period of time.

Merino is a Spanish international, Euros winner and part of Arsenal's leadership team - the type of player traditionally hard to find in January at short notice.

Get Involved - 'Few months back at Palace for Eze? Better for all concerned'published at 11:54 GMT 2 February

Click 'Get Involved' to have your say

Why have Palace not approached Arsenal about taking Eze back on loan until the summer? He's just bench warming at the Emirates, and his World Cup place is firmly under threat if Arteta continues to overlook him. A few months back at Palace would be better for all concerned.

  9. Iling Jr heading to Serie A?published at 11:49 GMT 2 February

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Aston Villa's Samuel Iling Jr is poised to cut short his loan at West Bromwich Albion to move to Pisa in Serie A.

The winger has spent the first half of the season at the Baggies in the Championship.

He scored once in 24 games but is now expected to move to Pisa to help them in their relegation fight with the club second bottom of Serie A.

Iling Jr has previously played for Juventus and Bologna in Italy.

The Baggies - 21st and three points above the Championship relegation zone - will replace him with Aston Villa team-mate Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba.

Preston were also keen to take the 19-year-old on loan but Jimoh-Aloba wants to help the Baggies' relegation fight and has opted to return to the club over North End, while Leicester also enquired.

Attacker Jimoh-Aloba came through the academy at The Hawthorns before moving to Villa in 2023.

He made his Premier League debut last month and scored Villa's winner in the 3-2 comeback victory over Red Bull Salzburg in the Europa League last week.

  10. 'Jacquet is a special talent'published at 11:46 GMT 2 February

On Liverpool's reported £60m deal to sign defender Jeremy Jacquet, external from Rennes:

I can’t stress enough what a superb signing Jeremy Jacquet will be for Liverpool. He is a special talent and has everything to become one of the best defenders in the world. And he is Paris born and bred too, which makes him even more special!

I'm not convinced Chelsea needed Jacquet. Come the summer, we'll have Fofana, Chalobah, Colwill, Acheampong, Sarr, Anselmino, Badiashile and Tosin. Even if we sold Tosin and Badiashile (like many Chelsea fans hope) we'd still be left with six centre-backs.

  12. Strand Larsen 'isn’t the same player'published at 11:40 GMT 2 February

    Clinton Morrison
Former Premier League striker on Sky Sports

On Jorgen Strand Larsen to Crystal Palace, after the Eagles accepted a reduced offer worth up to £48m:

Strand Larsen two years ago, I’d have said ‘good deal’ - but he isn’t the same player. He’s short on confidence – I watched Wolves’ game against Bournemouth at the weekend and he had a great chance from two yards out that he couldn’t finish.

Crystal Palace like a big striker who can be a target man – it's a good deal, but it’s a lot of money.

  13. Palace looking at potentially busy daypublished at 11:36 GMT 2 February

    Alex Howell
    BBC Sport football reporter

It could be a busy day for Crystal Palace who could make two to three signings.

The Eagles are progressing with a deal for Jorgen Strand Larsen as a likely replacement for Jean-Philippe Mateta, who looks to be joining AC Milan.

Palace are also on the lookout for a centre-back to replace Marc Guehi.

It is doubtful that they would get a player to match the ability or pedigree of Guehi considering he is an England international and has joined title challengers Manchester City.

Palace also have young centre-backs Chadi Riad and Jaydee Canvot. Although they are both raw, the club will not want to block their pathway either.

The club are going to be open to the market and a third player could be brought in if there was the right situation, but, as with everything on deadline day, things could change.

  16. West Ham book medical for Chelsea defender Disasipublished at 11:25 GMT 2 February

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport Chelsea reporter

West Ham have booked a medical amid talks to sign Chelsea defender Axel Disasi on loan until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old is open to the move but sources inside the deal describe it as "not done", with a medical booked in case an agreement is reached, which is standard practice on deadline day.

Disasi has not played for Chelsea for over a year and spent time in the club’s so-called “bomb squad” after failing to secure a summer move, having been deemed surplus to requirements.

However, he has worked his way back into the Under-21s and first-team training since the appointment of Liam Rosenior as head coach, but has not made a senior appearance since 20 January 2025.

I'm sure fax machines are still warming up (there's one for the kids).

We are running a deadline day live page dedicated to transfer activity in the EFL and have reported a few deals that could happen. Here's a recap of those:

  18. 'Surprised - he said he wanted to go to Chelsea'published at 11:17 GMT 2 February

    Clinton Morrison
Former Premier League striker on Sky Sports

I'm surprised because three or four days ago the young man [Jeremy Jacquet] and his representatives said he wanted to go to Chelsea and they want it to happen in this window.

Chelsea have about nine centre-halves, so if they were really short they might have bid for him and put more money in.

Meanwhile, former Premier League striker Clinton Morrison is surprised Liverpool have seemingly beaten Chelsea to the signing of Rennes' 20-year-old France Under-21s defender Jeremy Jacquet...

  20. 'With that kind of money you want him now'published at 11:12 GMT 2 February

    Paul Merson
Former Arsenal midfielder speaking on Sky Sports

On Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet moving to Liverpool in the summer:

I found it extraordinary that he is coming in the summer. They need a centre-half now to get top four or top five.

I’m majorly shocked. I don’t know why for the life of me he’s staying in France until the start of next season. With that kind of money, you want him now!
