  3. Disasi close to West Ham loan move?

    Here's a story that seems to be gathering momentum.

    On Friday, BBC Sport's Nizaar Kinsella reported that West Ham had registered contact with Chelsea over a loan move for defender Axel Disasi.

    The Blues' preference remained to sell the 27-year-old, but they were keeping all options open, and had also had loan interest from Roma, while Lyon had asked to be kept informed.

    Now, multiple outlets are reporting that Disasi is close to completing a loan switch to the London Stadium.

    The France defender had been frozen out at Chelsea under previous manager Enzo Maresca, spending the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa before being forced to train with the so-called 'bomb squad' this campaign after failing to find a move away from Stamford Bridge.

    He has been back training with the first team since the appointment of Liam Rosenior as head coach, but has not played for Chelsea since 20 January, 2025.

    On Liverpool's deal to sign Rennes centre-back Jacquet only from the summer:

    It's odd, especially because they are so reliant on the Van Dijk-Konate partnership. I wouldn't find it as odd if they are only fighting for the Premier League, because they're out of it, but they've got a great chance in the Champions League and they don't really have any cover because Gomez is never fit.

  6. Gruda makes Bundesliga loan switch

    Brighton's Brajan Gruda has joined Bundesliga side RB Leipzig on loan until the end of the season.

    Albion boss Fabian Hurzeler said: "Brajan wants regular football and we are not able to guarantee him that in the second half of the season, so this loan represents a good move for all parties.

    "This move gives him that opportunity, a chance to continue his development and we wish him well for the remainder of the season."

  7. Leicester trying to sign Newcastle captain Lascelles

    Leicester are working on a deal to sign Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles.

    Caretaker Foxes manager Andy King is looking for reinforcements to help fix their ailing Championship season.

    Lascelles is out of contract at the end of the season and had been expected to leave St James' Park.

    The 32-year-old has made 253 appearances for Newcastle since joining from Nottingham Forest in 2014.

    The Foxes are also expected to sign midfielder Joe Aribo from Southampton on loan. Aribo has made 111 appearances for Saints since joining in 2022 from Rangers

    They are looking for a new manager having sacked Marti Cifuentes this month and are 16th in the Championship, with one win in their last six league games.

  12. Mateta to undergo further tests with Milan

    Jean-Philippe Mateta will undergo further medical tests with AC Milan today after the Italian side agreed a deal to sign the Crystal Palace striker.

    Mateta undertook part of his medical ahead of a potential move to the San Siro on Sunday and will have more tests just hours before the 7pm transfer deadline.

    Palace manager Oliver Glasner disclosed in December that Mateta has been nursing a knee issue, though it remains to be seen whether the complaint impacts on the striker’s medical examination on Monday.

    The word out of Manchester United this morning is that it is likely to be a quiet day transfer wise.

    England Under-20 forward Ethan Wheatley is due to join Bradford and Gibraltar international James Scanlon is likely to complete a loan move but significant moves are thought to be unlikely.

    Ruben Amorim did say he thought there would be additions but United officials were not willing to sanction spending on anyone other than a long-term target

    If Amorim had still been in charge, we would probably have been debating the future of Kobbie Mainoo. But Mainoo is now playing and doing well under Michael Carrick.

    Joshua Zirkzee and Manuel Ugarte are on the fringes and it would be interesting to see what the reaction would if a club tried to bring in central defenders young defender Tyler Fredericson, or, less likely, Ayden Heaven or Leny Yoro on loan.

    Casemiro's form has reduced the need for immediate central midfield reinforcements - given his salary there is a desire for him to start games - but as Carrick said on Friday, 'never say never on deadline day.

    Bournemouth are widely expected to have concluded their winter business after signing four players — more than any other Premier League club so far.

    Their final potential deal had been an initial loan move for Inter Milan defender Luis Henrique, but it was dependent on the Italian club bringing in reinforcements who have not arrived at San Siro.

    As a result, the Cherries are not actively pursuing further signings, though they remain open to doing business should an opportunity arise.

  19. Who is Jeremy Jacquet?

    Jeremy Jacquet broke through into the Rennes first team at the tail end of last season and has played 18 of their 20 matches in Ligue 1 this campaign.

    The 20-year-old has made five appearances for France Under-21s, but is yet to earn a cap for the senior side.

    He did not make the squad for the 2025 Under-21s Euros in Slovakia, despite being capped twice in the lead up to the tournament, but has since made the squad for all four qualifiers played for the 2027 U21s Euros.

    Jacquet offers Liverpool a commanding physical presence, combined with an accomplished range of passing and an ability to read the game that belies his age.

    He stands at over 6ft 1ins tall and possesses an impressive turn of pace.

    According to Fbref, in the 2025-26 Ligue 1 season, he has averaged 1.18 interceptions per 90 minutes, while figures on FotMob show he has won 75.5% of his aerial duels.

    Stats provided by Opta show he has a passing accuracy of 91.1% and has completed 74.3% of his passes into the final-third.

  20. Jacquet to sign five-and-a-half year deal

    Earlier, we told you that Liverpool have agreed a £60m deal for defender Jeremy Jacquet, but the centre-half will not be joining the club in the current transfer window.

    Personal terms have been agreed and the defender is set to join on a contract until June 2031, with the option to extend for another 12 months.

    He is flying into the UK this morning to complete his medical ahead of his summer move.
