The ball squirts across his goalmouth after a deflection and drops to the on-rushing Tyrick Mitchell, who sees his first-time effort from six yards out somehow deflected away by the keeper's thigh as he flung himself at his feet.

Pure instincts, but how Mitchell would love to have that chance back,

That was his side's first effort on target in more than 20 minutes, however.

Just a touch of frustration creeping in at Selhurst Park.

Palace fans have seen this movie before. less than five months ago.

They created a glut of chances and pinned AEK Larnaca back in their own half in the group stage, and then got stung by a goal early in the second half.

Ola Aina gets the ball 30 yards out and the crowd urge him to shoot, which he does and goalkeeper Elias Rafn Olafsson does well to parry it, despite it bouncing just in front of him.

Igor Jesus can't do enough with the rebound and instead sends it wide. The home fans are getting a bit restless, especially with the time taken by Midtjylland to get play started again.

Some lovely slick approach play from Palace leads to Brennan Johnson being played in on the right of the area.

His touch stalls the momentum somewhat and his low cross back into the middle is deflected and allows AEK to clear.

Fans getting just a touch frustrated their side are not shooting and crossing quicker, while Chris Richards has also turned down the chance of a long throw on a very wet and windy night which might have helped his cause.

Morato with a yellow card for wiping out Denil Castillo, who had nudged the ball away from the Brazilian before being clattered into.

The free-kick, close to the right touchline, is swung in superbly by Aral Simsir and Forest get lucky as the dangerous ball bounces through the six-yard box and behind for a goal kick.

Igor Jesus with a look at the posts, but he can't get enough power on the 20-yard effort and it dribbles harmlessly wide.

This group of Nottingham Forest players look lively and excited to play this type of football.

Omari Hutchinson has done well to make runs in but there is yet to be something concrete made by Forest.

Omari Hutchinson does well to win a corner, with Martin Erlic again in the right spot to save further trouble for the away side.

Midtjylland skipper Mads Bech then gets great distance on the clearing header from the following Hutchinson delivery.

AEK attacking midfielder, if you can call him that tonight, Jorge Miramon is limping off for the visitors inside half an hour.

Petros Ioannou is coming on for his European debut in his stead.

He'll join a rearguard effort taking palce in the Larnaca half for the majority of the game so far - Palace have had 62% possession and five shots already.

Morgan Gibbs-White tries to get to the byline but is sandwiched between two away defenders and runs out of grass, with a goal kick given.

It is a bit feisty on the touchline with Vitor Pereira not too happy with opposite coach Mike Tullberg vocally questioning a refereeing decision, followed by a bit of shouting between the pair.

But it soon calms down, with a handshake.

The England man gets a whack on his shins as he tries to win the ball back on the deck but is given a free-kick as well as a blow.

If he wore his socks rolled up instead of down and had bigger shin pads it might not have hurt so much, just saying.

They have all been involved in the opening stages too. Bold choice from Oliver Glasner but an encouraging one so far.

Omari Hutchinson only has one goal to his name following his £37.5m move from Ipswich Town last summer, but he nearly doubles his tally with a great strike from 30 yards out, when cutting in again on to his left foot.

The ball is heading towards the top corner, but Elias Rafn Olafsson throws himself at it and pushes it over the bar.

AEK keeper Zlatan Alomerovic claws away a deep cross from Ismaila Sarr from the right from near his crossbar under little pressure but only succeeds in flicking it towards Evann Guessand, who can only contort to deflect the bouncing ball wide with his heel.
