Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin tells BBC Scotland: "I think the game turned on those two key moments [the goals]. It summed up the afternoon and summed up the last few weeks for us in terms of not defending the box well enough.

"St Mirren were better in those ugly moments. In the second half we had great opportunities. We had a great chance in the first half, and if that goes in, it changes the perspective of the game.

"We're on a tough run, we're not shying away from that. We deserve all the criticism that comes our way. We've had too many draws and a defeat today.

"There's no other way to get out of it other than working hard on the training pitch and sticking together. It takes hard work, a lot of teams this season have been on tricky runs and have had to fight hard to get out the other side, and we're no different to anyone else."

Dundee boss Steven Pressley tells BBC Scotland: "I'm extremely disappointed because, especially with the ball, I think it's the best we've played all season. We controlled long periods of the game with possession, we always looked a danger and I was really proud of the group.

"Against the ball we were really aggressive in our pressure and we worked so hard in the game. We had a couple of mistakes that put us on the back foot but we responded brilliantly.

"When we got the goal back I was confident we would get something from the game because we were controlling it for such long periods. The final goal was a sucker punch because we'd thrown everything at it. My only complaint is that after such a positive performance we got nothing from the game."

Falkirk manager John McGlynn: "We were makers of our own downfall. We've got our own style of playing, that's no secret, we've been doing the same thing for a few years now.

"We lose the ball deep in our own half for both the first and second goal. We were a little threat in the first half, but coming in 2-0 down we looked sluggish from the game on Wednesday.

"The second half was much better. We've put the ball in the back of the net [disallowed goal], and if that goes for us that's 2-1. We were the better team in the second half and it could have been a turning point.

"We're not going to crucify ourselves. We dust ourselves down and get ready for Hearts next week. Today, it was just a little bit too far for us."

Livingston manager David Martindale tells BBC Scotland: "I don't think there was much in the game in the first half. It's a good [first] goal but we shouldn't turn our back on it.

"We shot ourselves in the foot, we were playing too narrow. They hit us with a couple of counters. Second half I didn't think there was a lot in it and we give away a penalty. I've not had a chance to look at it back, I'm not interested in that to be honest. Then the game becomes difficult.

"I'll sit and tell you now, Motherwell will be top four. That's not an excuse for us, but they're a very, very good team, really well drilled. I'll be surprised if they don't make top four."

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin tells BBC Scotland: "I'm really happy for all the fans that were here today.

"They were so loud for the whole game and the players are fighting so hard. I think it was a game of two halves, I thought we were really good in the first half but Dundee came out in the second half and created some momentum.

"The mental capacity of the squad, the subs made a difference, so I think the team is growing."

In-form Aberdeen nudge into the top six with a hard-fought win at Dens Park.

Two first-half goals from Adil Aouchiche saw the Dons take a comfortable lead into the break, but Steven Pressley's side piled on the pressure in the second half after Ryan Astley's header clawed them back into the game.

But Kevin Nisbet's magnificent strike in added time sealed all three points for the visitors.

It's now five defeats in six for Dundee who drop to 11th.
