Fulham's Antonee Robinson - making his first Premier League start of the season - wins a corner.

Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot speaking to Sky Sports: "Very pleased. I think you could see today what it means for the players if you have to play many games. We had three days rest and were facing a team that had a week to prepare. You could see the problems during the game with injuries but the mentality was great."

On Mohamed Salah: "I think he was a threat. The first ball he touched, he almost made an assist for Mac Allister. He was constantly involved in the fact we had Mo. Pleasing to see but not a surprise.

"It was an easy decision to put him in the squad. I have said many times before what has been said between us will stay between us. We needed him and he assisted to the 2-0 which is nice for us. We have been so many times this season on the wrong side of the set-piece battle.

"He goes to the Afcon and that means for us another player down. This is what we knew before the season started. Hopefully one or two players can come back from injury."

How did Ekitike do? "Very well. But I think I can see the players we have brought in this season have progressed. They are getting stronger and stronger and fitter and fitter. I can see them getting stronger in the duels they play. Hugo is an example of that, but others are examples of that too.

Burnley win a free-kick but Jacob Bruun Larsen just slams it into the defensive wall.

I think it's a huge game. If you look at this Burnley side, I think a lot of people would have said they'd be in this type of position. What's so important for them now, while missing key players as well, is that they don't let that gap [between them and safety] get any bigger.

Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Hard work. We had to work really hard for this win because we faced a very good team that kept going to the end. For the first time in weeks, I feel like we had a bit of luck today. We have a clean sheet and in other games we have conceded three without the other team having as many chances.

"In the second half in the moments they had, when we were together in and around our box. We had chances on the counter but I quite liked the way we played. Maybe we deserved this bit of luck, because of the mentality that we showed and the injuries and other things like that."

On Hugo Ekitike: "I think he was in moments impressive today. The goals he scored were good goals and there were other moments I thought 'wow'. That is of course why we wanted him, apart from the goals. It is good to see he and others who came in the summer are making progress."

On Florian Wirtz: "The way he handles the ball. How comfortable he is with that. i think he is also one of the players I say when he is getting better and better. He is getting stronger and stronger. All the hard work the players have put in over the last few months is paying off.

"After so many games played it is a week where hopefully we can recover a little bit. There will be some training time."

Burnley attack but Lyle Foster loses the ball to Alex Iwobi. Both players are likely to be off to Afcon next week.

Chelsea

Chelsea goalscorer Cole Palmer to BBC Match of the Day: "I wouldn't say I'm at my best yet. I'm still dealing with an injury. Hopefully it gets better and better but there's still a bit to go.

"It is getting better. The stuff I've been doing with the physios at the club. It's just a matter of not doing too much too soon.

"Literally, it's just a day by day thing. Hopefully it gets better."

On Thomas Tuchel being in the stands for the match: "I've not been looking too far ahead to be honest. I've been injured for three months, I just need to get back to full fitness. I know what I can offer when I'm fully fit so hopefully I get there soon."

Fulham boss Marco Silva: "One thing that is clear is focus. We want to make the players understand the plan clearly.

"The Premier League demands a lot. The mental and tactical point of view, coping with fatigue, making subs, managing the load.

"Sometimes our games have come from those moments. The margins - when the games are so tight, some margins can go your way, some can make you lose the three points."

Mo Salah may regret the fact that he went very public. But if you're a Liverpool fan, you hope there can be an agreement that Salah can stay on.

Everton

Everton manager David Moyes speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Losing Kiernan [Dewsbury-Hall] was a blow to us but I thought we adapted quite well. I know we've come away with a disappointing result but it wasn't a disappointing performance. We did a lot of really good things today.

"Maybe we played one of our best games away from home, we've had some very good results away from home. But we couldn't finish it off, we just dropped a couple of runners at times when they showed quality. We pushed them close and that's what we have to try and do.

"Jack [Grealish] had a great chance to make it one each, then we crossed one right into the goalie's arms, he distributes it quickly and they get the goal from it right on half-time.

"It felt a bit unfair on us because I thought for long periods we did well. I wouldn't say dominated because Chelsea had a lot of the ball as well.

"We played well, I've no complaints from the players except the final third stuff - if you don't take the chances you don't win the game.

"We stuck at it, we were never out of the game and were always a threat. We'll go away, look at it and hopefully do better next time."

Mohamed Salah is one of the best players in the world.

Liverpool's players will want him in that team, they will want him happy, they will want to provide him with service.

For someone like Hugo Ekitike, he will have moved to Liverpool because he knows he will get so much service from Salah.

Hugo Ekiteke is full of confidence. He was pivotal in all Liverpool’s good stuff today. The importance of the win, particularly after Inter was massive.

Arne Slot changed the system from midweek... went back to the 4-3-2-1 and the way Brighton play suited Liverpool. I thought Curtis Jones stood out and it was another good performance from Wirtz.

We came back to Liverpool with the draw so today it was important to win and maybe restart something. I am happy today.

"I am just here and I do my job. Whether I play with Flo [Wirtz] or Alex [Isak] I do my best to complement them."

On Mo Salah: "Mohamed is a great, great professional. I look to him as an example. You can see how much he is involved in goals and assists. He is a legend here. To share the pitch is a blessing. That's the kind of player who makes us like to watch football."

"Maybe in the final third we needed it [a bit of luck], they were clinical in the one or two moments they got, we weren't as clinical when we got in on goal. That was the difference."

On Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall going off with what looked like a hamstring injury: "I'll find out later what it is, he had a bit of tightness already and then he felt in during the game."

On losing players to the Africa Cup of Nations: "It will be difficult to replace [Iliman] Ndiaye and Gana [Idrissa Gueye], both are brilliant players who have done well. But when you sign African players you have to accept they will go to Afcon. We want them to do well for their countries."

On the message to the team: "They did so many good things. We played well, but ultimately we didn't get three points, You can say well done as much as you like but we've got to pick up the three points."

Chelsea

"We said many times with Cole [Palmer] we are a better team. Unfortunately he was out for many games for us, but now he's back and for sure he will help us."

On having Reece James and Malo Gusto both being used as an inverted full-back which is a popular tactic at the moment: "Never with two, huh? They are good players and when they are good players they can play in every position. They can play full-back and midfielder.

"[Malo Gusto] took the chance and his assist for Cole, so I am very happy for Malo.

"If we are not able to win, win, win that still doesn't mean we're not ready to compete for titles.

"When you don't concede it's not just about one player, it's about all the team. Joao Pedro's press, Alejandro Garnacho's press."
