Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta speaking to Premier League Productions about Myles Lewis-Skelly, who makes his first league start today: "He's been a player who has been with us since the pre-season.

"He's proven that he can compete and play at the highest level. He did it in the midweek for a period of the game and he did really well. He's got another chance today and I am sure he is going to compete well again."

On Everton: "They are always solid and Sean Dyche's sides are always competitive. They attack the balls really well and defend the balls really well. They give you a hard time and we know that we will have to be at our best today to win it."

Everton boss Sean Dyche says it could be an "incentive" for players to step up their levels if their contracts are set to run out next summer.

The Blues have 12 players - eight on permanent deals and four on loan - whose contracts are set to come to an end when the season finishes.

It is a list that includes Dominic Calvert-Lewin, captain Seamus Coleman and centre-back Michael Keane. However, the ongoing talks over a takeover of the club is making it difficult for contract negotiations to take place.

"Each player is different. Whether you are in or out of contract, your goal should be the same," Dyche said. "Playing well consistently for the club, that shouldn't change.

"You could argue that if your contract is coming to an end then that can add a bit of incentive, because if there is not a lot of noise about you then you need to create the noise.

"I don't think it is a terrible or questionable situation. It is just the reality at the moment. People know a lot about the history of contract situations at this club - we are just down a different road at the moment.

"It is not helpful with ownership situation, but we just have to wait and see."

I don't think it really affects players [the captaincy changing], as far as I'm concerned it's just a lot of outside noise. Internally, they won't be too fussed.

We talk about Wolves and the position they are in though, you've got to look back to the summer and summer's previous and Gary O'Neil gets the rug pulled from him every year. They sell their two best players and don't replace them with similar or better - it's almost the impossible job.

Talk at Arsenal has now started about the window transfer window as it opens on 1 January but Mikel Arteta says plans the club have around new signings will not be held up by the departure of sporting director Edu.

The Gunners have been without a sporting director since he left in November.

"We have one, Jason Ayto is our interim sporting director," Arteta said. "He has got the full capacity and support of the football club right now. He is doing really well with his team.

"The process is open, as you know. The club, with the support of all of us, will decide who is the best person to move us forward."

Arsenal have been hit with injuries to key players at times this season but it does not seem as though the Gunners are going to be overly active in January.

"I never expect January to be super busy but we have to wait and see where we are. Some surprises can come," Arteta said.

"We are prepared for that. Some opportunities too. We have to see. Hopefully the availability of the squad will be better in a few weeks. We have to wait and see."

I don't know what the must-win situation is for Gary O'Neil because he's obviously still got the backing of his board.

I still expect Wolves to get out of this situation but as this time is passing, you are seeing issues like captains getting stripped of armbands and things like this so as a consequence, what is the mood in this place?

I thought they would have been better against West Ham, I genuinely thought they would have won that game but the fact is they are down there and they are down there for a reason.

Former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell is the face of today's matchday programme at the Emirates and is fondly remembered by both clubs.

Campbell died aged 54 in June and there will be a tribute to him before kick-off between the two sides, with a tifo being revealed as the players walk out onto the pitch.

Campbell scored 59 goals in 228 games for the Gunners, winning the league title, FA Cup, League Cup and European Cup Winners' Cup.

At Everton, Campbell's goals saved the club from relegation, netting 48 times in 159 games,

I can see Liverpool winning the game against Fulham but I don't think it will be easy because Fulham have done really well against the sides that are up towards the top of the league.

I think this weekend will probably be a case of status quo for both Liverpool and Arsenal but for Arsenal, they will be hoping at some point that Liverpool can drop points.

Arsenal are a really big side and really aggressive in how they attack set-pieces.

I think what's interesting is how Monaco tried to go against them - they decided to put three players up the field and force some of the Arsenal players back but Arsenal were brave enough to go one versus one at the back. In that moment, there was then more space for the goalkeeper and defenders.

I don't know how many teams are brave enough to leave three players up field though when Arsenal still have so much threat in the box.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has defended under-pressure striker Darwin Nunez.

The Uruguay forward, 25, has scored just three times in 19 club appearances this season and missed chances in Tuesday's 1-0 Champions League win against Girona.

"For me, he has impact," said Slot.

"If you only look at goals, he hasn't scored the amount of goals that he wants to score, or we want a number nine to score, but he does have impact in his work-rate. He's part of a team that scores a lot of goals and is winning a lot.

"Of course, as a number nine you want to score more goals and that's definitely what he wants as well. But I'm not only judging Mohamed Salah on his goals and Darwin on his goals - I also judge them on their work-rate and what they bring to the team.

"The fans support him so much that maybe he wants it too much."

Do I think Wolves will score? Yes.

Do I think Ipswich will score too? Probably, because everyone scores against Wolves.

I could come out of retirement and score against Wolves, that's how bad their backline is.

In fact, I actually think I would score more than one and I am 51.

Wolves have got some talented players but, as I've said previously, you cannot concede the amount of goals they do and expect to stay in the Premier League.

As for Ipswich, I was speaking to a teacher friend of mine, Mr Fields, about them this week.

As a loyal fan of the Tractor Boys, he was thinking six points was possible from their past two games, at home to Crystal Palace and Bournemouth - and they got zero.

I had said Ipswich would get a point against Palace and lose to Bournemouth, but those results still made me think I have been a bit too generous with my predictions for them this season.

Putting my Norwich loyalties to one side, anyone seeing my scores would think I had a soft spot for Ipswich, when in fact they are showing their soft centre.

So, I am going with Wolves here. I know Ipswich's best results so far have come on the road, but I don't think that will help them here.

It won't make any difference where they play if their goalkeeper, Arijanet Muric, keeps making terrible decisions.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

I did not like the way Leicester treated Steve Cooper but they have definitely had a bounce since appointing Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has made the start he desired.

It is fair to say that Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has not had the season he wanted so far, but any team who can beat Arsenal and draw with Liverpool must have something about them.

Howe's side have been consistently inconsistent, but they are not far off becoming the team he wants them to be.

I am expecting them to click here, and I actually think this will be quite straightforward for them.

Sutton's prediction: 3-0

Marco Silva is doing an amazing job with Fulham.

But what I found interesting was Arne Slot’s comments in mid-week to stir the players up. This is another side to Slot. The really demanding side.

We see all the smiles in the press conferences but you can see this competitive edge in him.

Leicester City

Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy speaking to BBC Sport about his experience playing at St James' Park: "I can't even remember that long ago! It is a great place to come. The stadium, the atmosphere and the quality of their team. Can we develop little by little? It is very exciting today.

"You prepare for the games and away games have their challenges. We know when the crowd gets behind the team and the physicality of it but we prepare the same things and want to continue doing that."

On selecting Hamza Choudhury to start: "He has been working hard. He is prepared and the team is ready to hep him in these moments to get his rhythm. I am confident he is capable."

Newcastle United

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe speaking to BBC Sport: "We need a consistent run of results and there is no better month to do it than December. We are looking forward to it.

"I don't think it was a collapse last week but it was four poor goals to concede. We have to learn the lessons from that and are pleased to be back at home.

"We will targets all areas. We have some really good attacking players and we need to be on the top of our game in all areas."

Wolves have replaced Gabon midfielder Mario Lemina with Portugal right-back Nelson Semedo as captain.

Lemina clashed with West Ham's Jarrod Bowen after Monday's 2-1 defeat for Wolves.

"We've decided to move the captaincy to Nelson and Nelson will captain the group from now on," said under-pressure boss O'Neil, who only handed Lemina the armband in the summer.

"Of course, the other night sparked the conversation, but it was an important conversation that had to be had. Mario and myself have a good understanding now of how we move forward and what it looks like.

"We've spoken a lot this week - me, Mario and some of the other senior players. What happened after the game can't happen.

"We all understand emotions can rise, that we're in a tough moment and everyone's fighting and giving everything under big stress and pressure. But they're scenes we won't see again, definitely."
