"We know in some moments Liverpool will force us to do things we don't like to do. When you come for a game like this with five very important players out, for any team it is really tough.

Liverpool

Liverpool manger Arne Slot, speaking to Sky Sports, first on his team selection: "It is not based on form, it is something we did in many games rotating the front two, other than Mo [Salah]. Now it is Lucho [Luis Diaz] and Cody [Gakpo]."

On improving on the Girona performance: "With the quality Fulham has, if we do similar things as on Tuesday we will have a very hard time trying to win this game.

"They can create chances on the counter attack if we are not aggressive enough and they can harm us more than Girona.

"It is hard to create chances against them. They have a very good structure and plan. We need to be good today - again."

I think they are in the title race but the fall off - 11 points from two seasons ago is quite incredible. Their goals scored have fallen quite considerably and it's a little bit of an issue.

It all goes back to what people were calling for in the summer and whether they need a number nine because they do create the chances.

I would say they are chasing an unknown quantity at the moment in Liverpool. It has gone immaculately so far for Arne Slot but I want to see how it goes when there is a bump in the road and how everybody reacts.

Everton

Everton boss Sean Dyche speaking to Premier League Productions: "It's been a strange story. We have come off a tough start to the season but have calmed things down. We were having a lot of draws. Generally, there has been a solid feel about in our performance levels recently and then a big win where we scored a lot of goals."

On opponents Arsenal: "They are a good outfit. There's a little bit noise about whether they are doing this or doing that. But they are still wining games. The are still up there and have a squad that is deep in quality.

"We had a very good display here last season and deserved something. Decisions form the referee went against us on that day. We got to go and deliver a performance out there today because they are a strong outfit."

On Gary O'Neil's comments that Wolves and Ipswich are in different situations...

He’s right in terms of the atmosphere, it’s completely different because Kieran McKenna, there’s so much love and support and it’s remarkable what he’s been on. This run he’s taken on.

I was slightly surprised he didn’t praise McKenna even more for the managerial magic he’s effectively done.

There’s also got to be sympathy for Gary O’Neil. He sold something like £200m worth of players in 18 months whereas McKenna is dealing with lower league players has coached their development. He’s brought players in like Liam Delap who's done really well.

He’s brought in quality. There's more unity there.

I would imagine that most of the Everton fans that are travelling here today are expecting an Arsenal win but only Manchester City have beaten Arsenal more times than Everton over the last five years - albeit only one of those Everton wins was at the Emirates.

Everton have had that unexpected break with the Merseyside derby being called off while Arsenal have played twice since Everton last took to the field so you never know but you'd be a very brave person to stick your neck out and say Everton are going to win this one.

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna says the first goal today will be massive to affect the home crowd and the game.

"Going away from home there are always two edges to that sword, especially against a team who are not in a position supporters are happy with," he said.

"If they get momentum up, if they get the first goal then I'm sure they will all pull together because they are all fighting really, really hard for the result.

"If you can impose yourself on the game, if you can take away the performance that the home team want and you can get the first goal, then you have a chance of turning that momentum against them.

"That always counts for you in away games and probably against teams who aren't performing and picking up results that they would hope. That is the situation going into this weekend."

Wolves chairman Jeff Shi says the club are "united" behind under-pressure manager Gary O'Neil.

O'Neil's future at Molineux has been under the spotlight this season as Wolves sit 19th in the Premier League.

Monday's 2-1 loss at West Ham was Wolves' 10th defeat of the campaign and left them four points from safety.

Despite their struggles, having won only two fixtures, chairman Shi believes O'Neil - who replaced Julen Lopetegui 18 months ago - is the right man to get the club back on track.

"While he knows that improving our results quickly is essential for everyone associated with the football club, we are united in supporting him as all of us strive to make that progress happen," Shi wrote in his Express & Star column., external

"Even in what I believe to be Wolves' best decade in half a century, tough moments are inevitable.

"Success isn't about avoiding challenges; it's about how we respond to them.

"Patience, resilience, and well-thought-out solutions have always been the foundation of Wolves' progress."

Despite remaining in charge, it still seems like the end game for Gary O'Neil at Wolves.

Getting a victory against Ipswich on Saturday was already going to be vital but after Monday's defeat at West Ham, it has become paramount.

A win would move Wolves to within a point of 17th-placed Crystal Palace, who travel to Brighton on Sunday, and three points clear of the Tractor Boys.

Victory would put a plaster over the wound. It would not fix a problem and it feels the next damaging defeat would spell the end regardless.

An Ipswich win would see the atmosphere at Molineux become toxic and leave O'Neil - who faces the media this afternoon - in an untenable position, given he has lost the support of the majority of fans.

It feels like he is the caretaker for his own job, with Wolves unable to find a suitable successor, and has been put in an unsustainable position.

O'Neil, a decent man and a good coach, deserves better than a drawn out exit.

Fulham boss Marco Silva's side sit 10th in the league - but only two points off the guaranteed European spots.

The Cottagers have not played in Europe since 2011.

"I don't see success in football without hard work - that is the reason why we have done so well the last few seasons," he said.

"Everyone works so hard and the demands from ourselves in the football club are so high. If the standards and demands are high, then you are more able to respond in this league that is so tough.

"I know it is only the beginning of December but up until now it has been really good to see how the team has responded."

Former Leicester City winger Matt Piper believes Jamie Vardy will reach the 150 Premier League goals club this season, after the 37-year-old's strike against Brighton brought him within eight goals of matching Michael Owen's record.

Speaking on BBC Radio Leicester's When You're Smiling podcast, Piper said: "The only thing that would stop him doing it this season is maybe injury. He is getting older, so he will pick up little niggles here and there, but we have just got to hope that he has a season clean from injury.

"If he does, I think he will get there. Let's go one step further: could he get into the Premier League's all-time top 10 goalscorers this season? I think why not, especially now we have Ruud [van Nistelrooy] as manager!

"Number 10 is Jermain Defoe on 162 goals, so Vardy probably won't get there this season but he will keep playing until he gets into that top 10.

"I'm not saying that in jest, I'm being serious. But, if he doesn't get there [in his career], it doesn't matter.

"The level Jamie Vardy operates at - only starting at top-flight level when he was 27 years old, scoring the amount of goals he has, becoming the player he has become, Enzo Maresca is saying he is better than Wayne Rooney and Harry Kane - is magnificent.

"It would just be amazing if he could be in that top 10. His career isn't over yet - I don't think it's anywhere near finished yet - so if he could push himself into that top 10 it would be much deserved for the player he has been over the years."

I was surprised when I heard Alan Shearer's comments about Newcastle's attitude because from the outside I wouldn't say they have an issue with that.

For me, their problems stem from their defensive inconsistency. In recent seasons they have had a really settled back five and now they don't, so they are conceding more goals than we are used to seeing.

The rest of the team has remained pretty much the same, so the lack of experience and leadership in the back line must be playing a part. Kieran Trippier is no longer playing, Sven Botman remains a huge miss and Tino Livramento - who is one for the future - and Lewis Hall are both in their early 20s.

I wouldn't question their attitude. Their foundation as a club and as individuals is hard work. The team are very together and they showed they have fight in the 3-3 draw with Liverpool.

Newcastle lack squad depth and the core of their players are in their third season of consistent game time. That in itself is difficult and causes burnout.

We saw that from Newcastle last season when they tried to compete in the Champions League with a small squad. But they wouldn't have even qualified for that competition if they didn't have the correct attitude.

Individuals don't lose their hard-working attitude. It is more likely to be mental burn-out and fatigue, in addition to their inconsistent defence, that is troubling them this season.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe says he "feels so sad" for Callum Wilson after the striker was ruled out for up to two months with a hamstring injury.

Wilson only made his first appearance of the season last month because of injury and has played just 66 minutes across four Premier League games.

The England international has scored 48 goals in 122 games across five seasons for Newcastle, but his time on Tyneside has also been hampered by a succession of fitness issues.

"I really feel for Callum," said Howe. "We see the work, the dedication, the professionalism that he's shown, not just in the recovery from this injury, but throughout his career.

"To me he's an inspirational player and when you're in these moments, you have to understand how difficult this season has been for him.

"He's not cut corners - he's gone through a process to keep himself fit - taking himself away from family, seeking best opinions in the world. When you see him not get the results, I feel so sad for him.

"He's been outwardly emotional to me. I've seen the hurt. But it gives him extra motivation to come back and contribute."
