Pedersen - 'It's a tough day' as Sheffield Wednesday go into administration

After months of turmoil, it was announced yesterday that Sheffield Wednesday have been placed into administration.

It rings in the end of Dejphon Chansiri's reign, with the seats spelling out his name in the North Stand removed ahead of today's game at Hillsborough.

The Owls also bear an automatic 12 point deduction in the Championship to dig them a deeper well at the bottom of the table.

But there is also a strange air of optimism around the place now, with a chance to start again and the end of fan boycotts meaning their game against Oxford could see the biggest crowd at Hillsborough for some time.

The EFL weekend began in pulsating fashion on Friday night as Daniel Jebbison completed a dramatic Preston comeback from 2-0 down to score the winner against his former club Sheffield United at Deepdale.

The on-loan Bournemouth striker headed powerfully past goalkeeper Michael Cooper to move the Lilywhites back into the top six, and end the Blades' two-match winning streak, leaving them 21st

Things had looked very different in the first half as goals from Andre Brooks and Callum O'Hare put Chris Wilder's side 2-0 up and seemingly in charge.

That changed in first half stoppage time when Lewis Dobbin pulled one back, and shortly after the restart Japhet Tanganga put through his own net, before Jebbison completed the turnaround.

The only unbeaten side in the top four tiers of English football, Coventry City, lead the way in the Championship.

They'll seek to maintain their advantage, at the very least, and have some club history in their sights when they host Watford in one of our three early kick-offs alongside a, dare we say it, mid-table battle between Ipswich and West Brom and Stoke heading to Portsmouth trying to claw their way back into the top three, for a couple of hours at least after Preston leapfrogged them last night after a win over Sheffield United.

At 3pm Middlesbrough will seek to maintain their strong start at home to Wrexham, third-placed Millwall welcome Leicester and all eyes will be on the basement battle as Norwich head to Swansea, Blackburn host Southampton and Sheffield Wednesday, now on -6 points after entering administration on Friday, begin a new chapter at Hillsborough with the visit of Oxford United.

Summertime has one last day to shed some light and joy into our lives and how better to spend it than keeping up with the best football league in the world (some might say, at least!).

Yes, British Summer Time is set to depart us on Sunday morning and transform into the dark and gloomy Greenwich Mean Time but before then we have some big results from the Championship yet to come.

Can Norwich City's Liam Manning find a win against Swansea to put a dent in calls for the end of his tenure? Can Coventry City hold onto the top spot against Watford? Will Sheffield Wednesday recover from a terrible week?

Stay tuned as we bring you all the build-up.
