The torrential rain in Bogotá didn't stop Jorge Uribe and Roberto Acosta from getting together with a few beers to see what group Colombia would end up in for the 2026 World Cup draw.
The South American team, runner-up in the most recent Copa América, will face Portugal, Uzbekistan, and another opponent yet to be determined in the playoffs.
"The group is manageable, although Portugal is the favourite team. We'll move forward from the group stage," says Acosta.
The excitement surrounding this Colombian team led by Néstor Lorenzo, which went on a 25-match unbeaten streak, is evident in the country’s streets.
"Colombia can beat anyone now, but we have to play well," adds Johan C. to the conversation.
Each national team match sparks cheers and waves of yellow jerseys throughout the streets.
The feeling is that they are destined for something bigger than they have ever dreamed of in decades.
They're rubbing their hands together at the prospect of seeing Luis Díaz and James Rodríguez lead a stylish, well-organized team that captivates.
The fourth member of the group will be either the Democratic Republic of Congo, Jamaica or New Caledonia
