Birmingham City beat Chelsea 3-2 on penalties to win the FA Cup in 2012 and the winning captain Laura Bassett is reflecting on that achievement ahead of their quarter-final against Manchester City.

We are always going to judge Chelsea on winning consistently. It has become the DNA of the club and everyone expects them to win everything.

It wasn't always going to be like that. There was always going to be a moment where maybe they were going to drop off a little bit.

They have done that in the league but they've already won a trophy this season, and are now in an FA Cup semi-final. Any other team at that stage is probably thinking 'We're doing alright'.

Because there has been so much success when it drops a bit people see it as a negative, but they are still pushing.

Chelsea

Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor, speaking to TNT Sports about aims to win a domestic double: "We will fight until the end to have as many titles as we can. The FA Cup is part of the best memory I had in my whole career as a player and manager, being able to go to Wembley and play a final there.

"It's such a special moment. We'll see the draw and who we have to play but will do everything we can to reach the final again."

On her reflections of the past few weeks: "I want to say I'm really proud of my players. When we started the block we knew the expectations were high and it would be a tough and difficult month. Even if we are out of the Champions League, we are still a little bit frustrated about that, but I think we've had great results and are playing well. I'm really enjoying working with the team and having fun with them on the pitch."

Chelsea

Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor, speaking to TNT Sports: "We were expecting that. If you analyse the whole performance I think we controlled the game. We had the moment where we conceded the goal and it changed the scenario. We stayed strong and we were able to score the second goal which is amazing."

On Buurman's goal: "That's a rocket for sure. I was just behind and I could see the trajectory. It was nice. I could see from the beginning when she struck the ball it was going to be a goal. She just proved again she's a top player and now if she's contributing to goals, where is she going to stop?"

In fairness Freddie they've brought in a lot of new faces in the last 18 months, including Bompastor herself, and have been decimated by injuries for most of the season.

After all that they're still on for a cup double and European qualification - that's still not bad going even by their own impossibly high standards.

Chelsea

More from Chelsea forward Lauren James, speaking to TNT Sports: "The fact that they [Tottenham] were fresh, they play one game a week, and it was a quarter-final so they were really up for it. And we've got tired legs. That was the difference."

On reaching the final four: "It's massive. It's something that the club always want to get to, they want to play in the final at Wembley, and win it. Also it gives us something to look forward to. It's another trophy we can win this year."

I think there will be a lot of changes in the summer. You will see some people moving out of the club, a lot of players coming in.

Chelsea are in a transition in terms of players, but the goal is always the same. The goal is always to win as many trophies as possible.

Chelsea goalscorer Veerle Buurman, speaking to TNT Sports: "I'm really happy I scored my first Chelsea goal. An important one and we are through to the next round.

"I think my first touch was inside and perfect and I just needed one touch and hit it like a rocket. I'm really happy with the goal.

"When you come on it's important to make an impact and then I scored my first goal. It was a good goal, good timing and we won the game, that's important.

On the challenge Spurs caused: "Spurs are a good team, they defended well and had some opportunities. We had more opportunities, a little bit more clinical as well."

On wanting to win a domestic double: "I think it's really important. We want to win the FA Cup. I hope you see us in the final, but first a semi-final."

Chelsea

Chelsea forward Lauren James, speaking to TNT Sports: "It was really tough. That was the last game in a tough block where we have played every three days, so we're very tired. Luckily we had Veerle [Buurman] on the pitch at the end and she scored a rocket, so happy days.

"They were on us at the start of the game and they had a lot of momentum. I thought they were going to score at one stage, so when Sam [Kerr] put it in it was a bit of a relief. Then we conceded and we just had to ride it out and then we got Veerle's magic."
