    FT: Crystal Palace 1-1 Fulham

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner speaking to Sky Sports: "I think a draw is a fair result when I see all of the circumstances. It was similar to how it was at Fulham a few weeks ago [2-1 Palace win] - then we had the lucky punch a the end at a corner, today a draw is ok.

"It's not a confidence [thing], we just concede when the legs are getting fatigued, the head and mind is getting fatigued. There is no other opportunity, I know everyone will give his best. Three more games and then we can rest a little bit. Then a one, two, three players will come back, hopefully we will get some new additions to the squad.

"Now is not to show brilliant football, but to go game-by-game and go point-by-point."

On Brennan Johnson agreeing to join Crystal Palace from Tottenham Hotspur:

"In the last three or four hours I was focussed on this game, I will have to look at my phone. Maybe I got a message but I don't know! If this is true, somebody will let me know."

Nathan Ake has pulled up barely two minutes in.

Josko Gvardiol is getting stripped off.

Well Josko Gvardiol was given the day off today with Pep Guardiola saying he wanted to rest the defender after a run of so many games.

But it looks like that day off will be cut short as Nathan Ake stays down after his first involvement of the game. He's clutching his knee and that is not ideal after just three minutes.

  9. 'A good point'published at 20:03 GMT 1 January

    FT: Crystal Palace 1-1 Fulham

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner speaking to Sky Sports: "For us it's a good point, it was a big save at the end from Dean Henderson.

"[Surrendering the lead] it's not surprising for me, we are a little bit in survival mode. As long as we are fresh it's ok how we play, but when the pressure increased we couldn't release ourselves and it was a question of time to concede the equaliser.

"Now we have three more games in the next nine days. I don't' expect any players coming back. It's for us to stick together and make the best of it and get the most points. It's important after three defeats to get this point at home, to break the downwards spiral.

"Credit to the players for their effort, I could see they wanted more but couldn't. We had to protect them, that's why it was a good point today."

Liverpool boss Arne Slot, speaking to Sky Sports:"Different because last time we conceded in extra-time, but the end result of both games is a draw and that's a disappointment.

"Not the first time this season, from all the ball possession we have, we do generate chances, but I don't think it is enough or maybe it should be enough if you look at the xG, but we should be able to create more.

"We were very close with Virgil, but we didn't and this season multiple times we have conceded a goal in a game like this and that's a positive thing today.

"We kept a clean sheet and that's why we have a draw today."

  11. 'We were rock solid and stuck together'published at 20:02 GMT 1 January

    FT: Liverpool 0-0 Leeds

    Leeds United

Leeds boss Daniel Farke, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was the reigning champions back in their top shape. Also, you could feel the New Year's Day special atmosphere in the stadium.

"They were on it, and we needed to show lots of resilience, stubborn and structured.

"We had a good start to this game, but of course, there was many period we had to suffer and we had to dig in. Liverpool had lots of possession, shots as well, but not clear-cut chances.

"I am very happy with the clean sheet and the point and the mentality the lads showed today. A great point and a really good evening for us.

"Six minutes of added time I didn't see where that was coming from! Then the game was over, and not many freekicks to us were given. Some yellow cards, I am asking why I am missing key player Ethan Ampadu in the next game.

"The atmosphere in the dressing room at the minute is second to none. We were rock solid as a team and stuck together. A lot of praise goes to my team and the lads."

Robin Roefs has been sensational. One of Sunderland's signings that has been unbelievably good.

Can he keep Erling Haaland quiet tonight?

  13. 'My players stay on their feet'published at 20:01 GMT 1 January

    FT: Liverpool 0-0 Leeds

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot speaking to BBC MOTD: "You would like to start the year with a win but it was difficult. I don't think we were able to play many times through their low block. When we did we didn't have enough bodies in front of goal and others times we were unfortunate.

"If you look at football then you see two ways of unlocking a low block. You need to pace, you need to be quick and dominate your one-on-one situations or you need a set-piece. We were close with a set-piece through Virgil (van Dijk) and close a few times with Jeremie (Frimpong) on one-on-ones.

On whether Hugo Ekitike shoud have won a penalty in the first half: "I don't think it's a surprise to anyone that one of my players stay on their feet.

"It happened against West Ham that Lucas Paqueta should have got a second yellow but one of my players stayed on his feet.

"It's just a team who we are and unfortunately it's not recognised. I saw Leeds players going down in the second half. The questions is, should we change or not? I don't think we should.

"If he goes down it probably would have been a red card and a penalty and that would have increased our chances of winning."

On making changes: "I'm not sure if we will do it again for the next game. If you look at the bench there were four players that are 19 years or younger and a few that haven't really played in the Premier League. This is what we have to accept and manage."

    Sunderland

Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris speaking to Sky Sports: "It's a tough place which we have showed before but today we have a very strong opponent.

On making one change to his side: "After three or four days, it is time to change the structure a bit and give a different style of play."

On facing Man City again: "A few weeks ago we struggled because they were really good and efficient through their counter pressing. I hope we learnt the lesson but it will be another experience at home with another energy so we'll see."

    Brentford v Tottenham (20:00 GMT)

Tottenham Hotspur have played eight London derbies on New Year’s Day in the league previously and only lost once, to West Ham in 1983.

This is Brentford's fifth - with their only two wins in such games coming against Dagenham & Redbridge in League Two in 2008 and 2011.

  20. Sutton's predictionpublished at 19:53 GMT 1 January

    Brentford v Tottenham (20:00 GMT)

    Chris Sutton
    BBC football expert

Spurs have got the best away record in the Premier League again, thanks to their win at Crystal Palace on Sunday that saw them climb to 11th place, but Brentford are absolutely flying at home too.

So, how do I call this one? Let's be honest, Spurs are not an attractive team to watch at the moment, and they are very stuffy and scrappy whether they win or not.

Their form on the road will probably give Thomas Frank a bit of confidence going back to his old club, and he will get a good reception there, I am sure of that.

But Brentford have snuck up to ninth after taking seven points from their past three games, and they won't lack belief either.

Anyone can beat anyone in this part of the table, which doesn't help me when it comes to making a prediction. I can't pick a winner here, so I am going for a draw.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-1
