Liverpool were dumped out by Plymouth at this stage of the FA Cup last year but on that day, Arne Slot did choose a second-string side.

You only have to look at Slot's team selection today to get an understanding of how highly he values the FA Cup this season.

Bar the nod for Federico Chiesa over Hugo Ekitike and Curtis Jones over Ryan Gravenberch, it's arguably the strongest side he could have picked.

Hugo Ekitike scored both goals when Liverpool defeated Brighton in their league meeting at Anfield in December.

The 23-year-old France forward is on the bench this evening, but if things don't go to plan he will likely be Arne Slot's go to player, having already registered 15 goals this term across all competitions.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot and Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler are both under pressure but it feels like Hurzeler has the bigger problems to solve.

Brighton are on a poor run and apparently it all got a bit ugly at their home defeat by Crystal Palace on Sunday. The fans seem to have lost faith in him, and although that feels harsh to me, when it happens then it it is hard to reverse it.

The Seagulls beat Manchester United away in round three and now Hurzeler could really do with beating Liverpool away too.

I wouldn't put it past them, either, especially with Liverpool struggling to see out games at the moment, but I think Slot's side will just about get over the line.

Sutton's prediction: 1-1 after extra-time, Liverpool to win on penalties.

The teams are out. The stadium looks relatively full on a freezing night in Merseyside and hopefully the football raises the temperature.

For Digne to jump into the ball and still be in the box after jumping... I don't know. The referee will be embarrassed when he sees that. All of the officials know that they have made a blunder. It won't matter now because Newcastle got the result, but that's poor.

At times, you can criticise, that's fine, but also for what he has done for Newcastle for his experience and all the other things.

He was never under any pressure from me for losing his job. We have to hold onto him.

If he was under any pressure, then the players have answered. That tells you what they think of the manager if he was under pressure.

That decision is one of the worst decisions I have ever seen in football because at no stage was Digne out of the penalty box. He is three or four yards inside. The linesman is just in front of it and you can clearly see how much he is in the penalty box.

The referee looked like he blew and looked like he was listening to someone in his ear, so I'm assuming the linesman gave the decision, and it's absolute shocker.
