It looks like Porto will be next for Nottingham Forest in the Europa League as they are 1-0 up at home to Stuttgart to stretch their overall lead to 3-1.

Aston Villa, if they get the job done here, will have Italian opposition in the last eight. Bologna are currently heading through as they are leading 2-1 at half-time in their away tie at Roma, with it being 3-2 on aggregate to Bologna.

Ismaila Sarr made sure of his place in Friday morning's headlines as his brace secured Palace's progression to the quarter‑finals of the Conference League.

But the Senegal international will be left wondering what could have been, as he was denied a first career hat‑trick by the post deep into stoppage time at the end of the second half.

Sarr's tally of 13 shots during the game was the highest any player has managed in the Conference League this season.

"Considering the changes it just shows the strength we have, the spirit and at this stage of the season that's what it's all about - showing togetherness, fighting for each other. A lot of lads today who haven't played many minutes will now be looking for more.

"You want to keep momentum going, don't want to get ahead of ourselves we will recover well and head to Spurs this weekend."

The best moment of the half came right at the end of it, with Amadou Onana's powerful header pushed away by visiting goalkeeper Berke Ozer. Villa 45 minutes away from the last eight.

It goes to show how deep Lille are getting. They are making sure there are no gaps.

Tammy Abraham thinks he can sprint on to the end of Morgan Rogers' through ball but, not for the first time tonight, Berke Ozer charges out of his penalty area to slide the ball into touch.

It has not been the most thrilling of halves so far, with neither side having a shot on target yet, but Villa are doing what they need to. If they avoid defeat they are in the last eight.
