The EFL has announced the 2026-27 season will begin over the weekend of Friday 14 to Sunday, 16 August.
The Championship, League One and League Two campaigns will all kick off on the same weekend, with round one of the Carabao Cup taking place 7-9 August.
It means there will be almost a full month between the World Cup final in New Jersey and the beginning of the new EFL season.
The season will end with each league's play-off final at Wembley Stadium, traditionally at the end of May.
This season had a staggered start, with League One and League Two beginning on the first weekend of August and the Championship starting the following weekend.
