Luke Littler reels in the big fish!

Stunning from the world champ. That was real showmanship as well because he didn't need to go for it.

Gian van Veen wasn't even close to a finish but Littler wanted the moment... and got it.

    There you go!

Luke Littler provides the first big fish of the game. He wins the third set and goes ahead.

For those new to darts, the "big fish" is a 170 checkout - the maximum score from which you can finish a leg in three darts.

There hasn't really been a lot between them in my mind in the scoring. The potential is always there for walloping a big one in from time to time.

Gian is forcing Luke to raise his game. Both averaging 110 in that set, this could go to sudden death. Gian looks completely unfazed.

    Another tidy finish.

Two trebleless visits from Gian van Veen make it easier for Littler to hold his throw, but he does so nicely with a 112.

It's like they were taking it in turns to show off their ridiculous finishing in that set.

Luke Littler takes it in style and already it feels like this could be some final!

    Littler 1-1 Van Veen (3-2)

Some frustration from Luke Littler as he missed chances to win the first set.

He raced into a 4-0 lead against Michael van Gerwen in last year's final, but this one looks a lot closer.

He'll feel a lot better after pinching that second set from 2-0 behind in legs.

GVV is looking really good already, I know it’s early doors but if Luke doesn’t get going, he could be 3 or 4 sets down.

    Jon, Devon

Luke will settle in. His match for the taking. Let's go!

    Karen, Wirral

I don't know what it is, but I just don't see Littler winning. I hope I'm wrong but it feels like he hasn't shown the peak performance he's capable of against anyone of note. GVV on the other hand has dispatched all with relative ease.
