  6. 'Start as we mean to go on'published at 14:22 BST 23 May

England captain Charlie Dean: "I think not to disappointed to bowl. It will be nice to get out there and start how we mean to go on. We managed to contain them well with the ball at the back end in Derby.

"Alice Capsey took her opportunity with both hands at Derby and there's competition for places."

On Sophie Ecclestone's absence: "Soph's got a bit of a tight quad. It's more precautionary than anything else and it brings a brilliant opportunity for Issy Wong."

New Zealand skipper Melie Kerr: "We're going to have a bat. It looks a good wicket, get runs on the board, and defend what we get.

"For a long time we competed at Derby. Reflecting on our batting we faced too many dot balls. Hopefully we can put in a good performance today.

"Lea Tahuhu comes in for Rosemary Mair, Nensi Patel in for Suzie Bates.

"This series is really important, but when you've got a squad of 15 and a World Cup coming up you've got to work out your eleven."
