Linsey Smith's two wickets in the first over was the second instance she's had a double strike in a powerplay over in T20Is.

No English spinner has achieved this more often.

The only other English bowlers to have a double strike more often in a powerplay over are Anya Shrubsole (six instances), Katherine Sciver-Brunt (three instances) and Lauren Bell (three instances).

  2. NZ 25-4published at 5 overs

More aggression from Sophie Devine as she swats Lauren Bell for four through mid-wicket.

Penultimate ball of the over and Devine ducks out the way of a bouncer from Bell.

Sophie Devine, no matter what pressure she's under, is going to slot the ball away.

  4. 6 runs

    NZ 20-4published at 4.2 overs

Sophie Devine with a bit of counterattacking intent.

She opens her arc into the leg side and wallops Lauren Bell for six over long-on

Lauren Bell really is a joy to watch. Intelligent bowler, a proper leader of this attack. Terrific use of the Canterbury slope there from the Nackington Road end!

Who was the biggest threat in the first game? It was Linsey Smith. Hit the ball on the ground, why are you trying to go over that fielder?

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 3.4 overs

    Halliday c Bouchier b Smith 3 (NZ 11-4)

Linsey Smith comes round the wicket to the left-handed Brooke Halliday and tosses one up a little bit.

Halliday skips down the pitch but ends up chipping it into the hands of Maia Bouchier at mid-off. Almost looked like a leading edge.

Another quite ordinary dismissal, in truth.

When New Zealand were 5-3 it was the lowest score England have reduced any opponent in a T20I at the fall of the third wicket.

  10. NZ 9-3published at 3 overs

Sophie Devine and Brooke Halliday at the crease now for the White Ferns.

Lauren Bell is bowling a nice tight line outside off stump.

A couple of leg byes and a single off the over.

Really pleased to see Issy Wong in the team. She has worked incredibly hard to get back into the national reckoning. When she took the hat-trick in the WPL she was at the peak of her powers. Let's hope she gets there again.

  12. NZ 6-3published at 2 overs

Two wickets in the over for England left-arm spinner Linsey Smith.

    That will do nicely.

Such a silly shot first up here, sweeping Linsey Smith. I just don't understand Melie Kerr's thought process there. You need to build a partnership. When you're in, I understand playing a shot like that, not first ball.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 1.3 overs

    A Kerr lbw b Smith 0 (NZ 5-3)

Three reds and the New Zealand skipper is on her way.

Bit of a rebuilding job needed for the Kiwis required now.

What about another first baller here, Henry?

  17. New Zealand reviewpublished at 1.3 overs

    It's all happening.

Amelia Kerr goes for a yahoo across the line, down on one knee, and ends up being struck by left-arm spinner Linsey Smith on the back thigh.

Kerr reviews, but this looks out.

That is so soft! So so soft from Georgia Plimmer! You've got to be better than that. It's actually not a great delivery from Linsey Smith, it's on sixth stump.

The England girls are laughing - Smith is known for attacking the stumps, that one could have been cut through the off side. A freebie, but then Plimmer said "I'll show you a freebie!"

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 1.1 overs

    Plimmer c & b Smith 0 (NZ 4-2)

A soft dismissal as Linsey Smith strikes first ball.

Georgia Plimmer backs away to leg a fraction and ends up tamely dragging it back into the hands of the England spinner.

Two ducks in this T20 series for Plimmer. Both first ballers as well.

That's why Lauren Bell is bowling from that far end, with the ball able to nip down the slope. It's not a good shot from Izzy Gaze, coming down the pitch, not in a good position, it's not what you'd expect from an opener.
