  1. 100 runs

for Tom Clarkpublished at 15:36 BST 3 April

    Leics v Sussex 251-4

Tom Clark cover drives Tom Scriven for four as Sussex reach 250 to secure a first batting bonus point.

The next ball is run down to fine leg for one and Clark reaches his fifth first-class century off 160 balls.

A great way to start the season for the left-hander.

stand for Surreypublished at 15:35 BST 3 April

    Warwicks v Surrey 176-6

Back-to-back sixes from Tom Lawes off spinner Rob Yates has taken him to 67* from 89 balls and brought up a century stand with Ben Foakes, who has 44*.

When they came together at 65-6 you had real concerns the visitors might be skittled for 100-odd but these two have put the Three Feathers on their shoulder and hauled them back into contention.

    Gay c Crawley b Stewart 128 (Durham 235-6 v Kent)

Emilio Gay's watch is over. And it has been a fine watch.

It's a fourth catch of the day for Zak Crawley at first slip, and this is a corker, low down after Gay dangled his bat at one outside off from Grant Stewart.

Kent have the wicket they prized, and a second bowling point.

Gay goes for 128 from 140 balls with 22 fours. Brilliant knock.

Kasey Aldridge joins Ollie Robinson on his Durham debut,

Not a piece of history Tom Westley will want, but he becomes the first player to be subbed for injury. Noah Thain coming in for the rest of the game as a batter.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:27 BST 3 April

    Bell c McManus b Procter 7 (Northants v Lancs 200-3)

Another softish dismissal for Lancs as Luke Proctor brings George Bell's innings to an end.

Not the best short ball Procter will ever bowl but its mediocrity encourages Bell to have a go.

He gets a feather on an attempted hook/pull and Lewis McManus dances smartly to his left to pick up the pieces behind.

Lancashire are going well but that is now Luke Wells and Bell who have gift-wrapped their wickets.

  6. 6 runs

for Ben Foakespublished at 15:26 BST 3 April

    Warwicks v Surrey 159-6

A spot of spin on the opening afternoon. How lovely.

Rob Yates skips in for his first ball of the season, and it's a full toss, which Ben Foakes launches disdainfully back over his head and beyond the long-on boundary for six.

    Foakes into the 40s.

  7. Postpublished at 15:24 BST 3 April

    Hants v Essex 113-3

Hampshire have hit a flat patch with Essex pair Matt Critchley and Charlie Allison rebuilding nicely.

Their partnership is up to 46 as Liam Dawson and Codi Yusuf wheel away with spin-seam at either end.

That said, Essex could be effectively four down (Tom Westley has retired hurt) after being put in by their hosts so they are still looking just behind in the early stages of this contest.

  8. 50 runs

for Tom Lawespublished at 15:23 BST 3 April

    Warwicks v Surrey 153-6

A half-century from 79 balls, brought up with his 10th four, a thick edge run intentionally down to the rope at third off Beau Webster.

Lovely stuff from Lawes, who has added 88 from 144 balls with Ben Foakes.

    464.

Tom Abell comes down the wicket again and lofts Liam Patterson-White into the Colin Atkinson Pavilion for the first six, then Kyle Verreyne cannot stop four byes as the spinner gets frustrated and darts in a quicker ball down the legside.

A change is prompted, Olly Stone from the MTP end.

  10. 50 runs

for Leus du Plooypublished at 15:21 BST 3 April

    Middx 141-3 v Glos

    Leus du PlooyImage source, Shutterstock

Leus du Plooy drives straight down the ground and although a good diving save denies hi8m a boundary, the single is enough to take him to 50 from 70 balls.

Middlesex have lost another wicket, though, with Max Holden bowled by an absolute beauty from Will Williams, which swung in from outside off stump and then left him after pitching - Holden made 32.

  11. Postpublished at 15:21 BST 3 April

    Warwicks v Surrey 146-6

Tom Lawes has found his groove and cut loose, picking up five boundaries in short order, clubbing the ball to all corners and seemingly trying to fill out a wagon wheel including one wonderful drive down the ground.

He's moved to 48* and left Ben Foakes in the dust on 33* and Surrey and inching their way back into the contest.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Tom Abell and 100 for he and Rew togetherpublished at 15:19 BST 3 April

    Som 167-3 v Notts

Notts turn back to Liam Patterson-White and Abell runs down second ball and bops him over extra cover for four.

    90 balls, seven fours.

That is the 100 partnership between these two too.

Leus du Plooy stepping up and showing he is one of Middlesex's best players. Was a great signing when we got him last season and hopefully he can propel us to promotion this season

    Daniel, London

Division Two looks a brilliant division this season, do you think Middlesex are in the conversation for promotion?

They weren't a million miles away last year, but Derbyshire have got better, Lancashire and Kent look restocked, Durham and Worcestershire are back down, Darren Lehmann in year two at Northants, and Gloucestershire are there too... who's your pick?

  14. Postpublished at 15:16 BST 3 April

    Leics v Sussex 228-4

The reassuring presence of John Simpson is now out there in the middle for Sussex. He scored more than 1,000 runs in both the last two seasons and, having given up the Championship captaincy,, will be hoping for another productive summer.

Partner Tom Clark is now 90 not out.

"Very good for him to have John Simpson out there with him at this stage," says BBC Sussex's Adrian Harms.

    Ackermann b Stuurman 6 (Durham 211-5 v Kent)

    When your luck is in...

Colin Ackermann swivels to pull away a short one from Glenton Stuurman but can only drag the ball down onto his pads, into his crease and it bounces into his stumps and dislodges the bails. Time almost stood still.

A third for Stuurman, five for Kent, but Emilio Gay remains on 114* and is joined by former Kent man Ollie Robinson, so their toil is by no means over.

Huge applause from England captain Ben Stokes on the Durham balcony for Emilio Gay reaching his century there… A member in the pavilion stand just asked Stokes: “When will you be fit?” His answer? “I AM fit!” Seemed a bit miffed to not be involved…

    Bradley at the Riverside

For the record, Bradley is not an affiliated BBC employee, so sadly we can't give this report too much credence, but it's also worth pointing out Ben Stokes sustained a horrendous facial injury in pre-season so he may well consider himself physically fit but still unable to play in a professional game at present.

    Harry Everett
    BBC Sport at Taunton

He does beat his former captain to the first Somerset 50 of the year, but only just (yes I have had this post drafted for a good while now!)

A flick off his legs to fine leg for four off Rob Lord, then a single in the same area take him to 46. Which is where he stays for a good while.

He then got lucky in a skewed aerial two through the cover gap and a beauty from Rob Lord just missing his outside edge.

A push through midwicket for one gets him there off his 112th ball, including four fours.

  18. Division Two updatepublished at 15:08 BST 3 April

    Leus du PlooyImage source, Shutterstock

Leus du Plooy and Max Holden have added 80 so far as batting becomes easier for Middlesex at Lord's. They are 132-2 after 48 overs against Gloucestershire - du Plooy is 43 not out and Holden has 30.

Derbyshire are looking to rebuild following the loss of Caleb Jewell and are now 173-3 in the 48th against Worcestershire, with Brooke Guest 32 not out and Martin Andersson on 14.

  19. Postpublished at 15:03 BST 3 April

    Durham 206-4 v Kent

Truly glorious sunshine at CLS now, though the floodlights remain on under clear blue skies, given the bad light interruption a little earlier.

    April cricket for you.

Emilio Gay has moved on to 110* with Colin Ackermann unbeaten on five from 22 balls.

Kent need another wicket, and will hope it's Gay making a mistake, to avoid this innings slipping away from them.

Leaning lbw Holland 13 (Leics v Sussex 222-4)

Leicestershire are fighting their way back into this game after a bit of a pounding during the morning session at Grace Road.

Jack Leaning is the latest Sussex batter to go, given out leg-before after pushing forward in defence.

He doesn't even bother to look at the umpire, the celebratory noises from behind the stumps tell him his time is up.
