Nashra Sundhu is Pakistan's fifth bowler.

Harmanpreet Kaur guides the left-arm spinner's second ball through a gap in the covers for her first four, then cracks another boundary square with a slog sweep.

India are going at a run a ball thus far.

You can see Wahab Riaz's influence in Tasmia Rubab - she's a left-armer who likes to swing the ball and Wahab has been coaching her.

That is a huge moment in this game - Aliya Riaz had done all the hard work, got into position and got two hands to it. Her movement was good so I don't have an explanation why it slipped through her fingers - everything was right about it. Maybe she was put off by the roar of the crowd?

    Ind 46-2

    Oh, that could be costly!

Smriti Mandhana backs away to Tasmia Rubab's penultimate delivery and tries to pump it high through the off side.

She doesn't get enough on the shot with the ball falling just behind mid-off Aliyiah Riaz - she backpedals and seems to have made the ground, but manages to let the ball drop through her hands.

Mandhana takes a single to move to 28 off 24 balls, and Harmanpreet adds another as India reach 46-2 at the end of the over.

  5. Ind 41-2published at 7 overs

Rameen Shamim continues out of the powerplay.

It's a solid over for the off-break bowler, just three singles coming off it.

I think Pakistan will probably be quite happy with that powerplay, India haven't got away from them.

Smriti Mandhana had been eyeing up that shot throughout the over. She's able to smile now that it went just past Fatima Sana's outstretched hand.

  9. Ind 38-2published at 6 overs

    Driven down the ground!

Smriti Mandhana ends the powerplay in style, powering Fatima Sana across the Edgbaston turf for four.

She moves to 25 from 19 balls - it had been Fatima's over prior to that, with just four runs coming prior to that boundary.

India will know they need a big win because it is being called the group of death with Australia and South Africa still to come.

Smriti Mandhana is one of only two batters (Mithali Raj is the other) to score more than 200 runs in T20s against Pakistan. If she gets 77 runs today, she'll overtake Mithali at the top of this particular chart.

Those boundaries will ease some of the tension for Smriti Mandhana after the loss of two early wickets.

  13. Ind 30-2published at 5 overs

Ah, not where that ball was meant to go.

Smriti Mandhana turns new bowler Rameen Shamim round the corner, short fine gives chase and dives to flip the ball away from the ropes.

There's too much on the flick though and it loops near 360 degrees and lands on the boundary.

Mandhana adds four more off the next ball, smacking a drag-down through a similar area.

Jerry: Why on earth hasn’t a franchise, say in The Hundred, not snapped up Fatima Sana? Brilliant all-rounder and bowling perfect for English conditions.

    Time for the captain.

Harmanpreet Kaur starts immediately with a single sent square, and Smriti Mandhana adds one more single in the over.

Pakistan have conceded just 20 runs with the powerplay two thirds done - they'll be delighted with that.

There was a bit of a send-off there because it is such a huge wicket. I don't think Jemimah needed to play that shot, they just needed to get a partnership going.

We know it's a good batting pitch.

    Skewed high in the air!

Jemimah Rodrigues tries to lump Tasmia Rubab into the leg side but sends the ball up above the covers instead.

A few fielders converge and it's Natalia Pervaiz who calls for it - the ball comes out of her hands after her initial attempt, but she sprawls to the floor to make a one-handed grab.

Another key batter falls and Pakistan know how important that wicket is - Pervaiz pumps the air in delight.

That is as good as it gets.
