Ash Gardner has not just stabilised the situation, she has put Australia in a very strong position.

    Places to be Ash?

Bang. Nat Sciver-Brunt pulled for four.

    Aus 175-4

Fifty for Ash Gardner off 47 deliveries - her second 50+ knock of the tournament.

Somewhat inevitably, she brings up the milestone with a boundary off Nat Sciver-Brunt, pulling hard.

This is a brilliant partnership. They have capitalised throughout the middle and the Australia dugout is far more relaxed than it was an hour ago.

Do England bring Sophie Ecclestone out of the attack?

  5. Aus 169-4published at 32 overs

Need 76 runs from 18 overs

Annabel Sutherland edges through the vacant slip region for four. How often have we seen that during this chase?

England had Australia 24-3 and 68-4 but Sutherland and Ash Gardner haven't looked under any pressure.

England will be feeling that if they can get a wicket they bring Tahlia McGrath to the crease, and one more after that, you are into the tailenders.

The voting thumbs don't agree with you I'm afraid, Evan. 200 up to about 700 down when I last checked...

Four singles and a boundary as they knock another eight off the chase. Australia are in complete control.

It's not over yet. England were in a similar position against India and found a way to win. Not saying they will today, but there's a twist or two more in this match. And it's already a world away from the Ashes performances.

The heads are not dropping at any stage. England believe they can stay in a game right until the very end.

  11. Aus 155-4published at 30 overs

Well, Sophie Ecclestone loses her length with her opening delivery and is flicked for four by Ash Gardner.

She responds well, conceding three singles from her next five balls.

England were 122-3 at the same stage...

    Pressure on Ecclestone now.

WinViz has it 55-45 in Australia's favour against EnglandImage source, BBC Sport/CricViz

WinViz has Australia as the favourites. The mood in the office has Australia as the favourites.

How about you? Not done one of these for a while - indulge me.

Thumbs up for an England win, thumbs down for an Australia win.

  14. Aus 148-4published at 29 overs

Need 97 runs from 21 overs

Nat Sciver-Brunt returns to the attack and runs are scored off five of the six deliveries.

She nearly gets a wicket with the final ball, but the important word is nearly. Annabel Sutherland just got an inside edge on it.

Another six knocked off Australia's chase.

  15. How's stat?!published at 16:07 BST 22 October 2025

    Rufus Bullough
    CricViz analyst

Annabel Sutherland loves batting with Ash Gardner at the other end in ODI cricket.

As a pair they have put on 470 runs, with this being their third 50+ partnership.

Sutherland has scored more runs with Gardner than with any other batter.

A lot of hands on heads for England as Ash Gardner fires a streaky four through the slips.

On the plus side, Charlie Dean was getting the ball to turn.

Annabel Sutherland is playing her innings of the tournament. She is really in good touch now.

  18. Aus 135-4published at 27 overs

Need 110 runs from 23 overs

I agree that it is looking a little ominous for England. Annabel Sutherland is purring and has built a solid partnership with Ash Gardner - they've put on 67 (67) for the fifth wicket.

To reinforce the point, Sutherland and Gardner each collect a boundary off Lauren Bell. Sutherland's is a well-timed drive which bisects a gap in the covers. Gardner's is smacked through point.

Here’s the game. Our middle order batting fell way short, while Australia’s leads the world. I’d suggest they are not panicking.

    Chris in South Croydon

Australia to cruise home now in 47 overs, sorry folks but you know it's going to happen. England did well to get four wickets but they won't be able to see this one out.

  20. Aus 123-4published at 26 overs

Need 122 runs from 24 overs

Annabel Sutherland's boundary is followed by a dot, three singles, and a nicely timed two. Charlie Dean has been a little expensive today.

Australia are a thoroughly enjoyable 123-4.
