Matt Renshaw has struggled for timing it but I wonder if the presence of a left-hander in Australia's middle order has affected the mindset of Ireland's spinners.

  2. Aus 116-4published at 13 overs

Decent stuff from Matthew Humphreys with six coming off that over.

With regards similar colour shirts as discussed on TMS. For people with colour blindness it is a real issue but playing the game is more of a problem. My son plays and when batting or fielding, he can only see the red ball on a green background by looking at the black stitching on the ball. Pink balls are hopeless as the white stitching is almost invisible making batting and fielding almost impossible. White balls are the best for people with colour blindness.

  4. Aus 110-4published at 12 overs

Marcus Stoinis guides it away for a four off Harry Tector before an easy flick away for another boundary.

Australia's run-rate is just over nine.

I've just been told that Ireland captain Paul Stirling being off the field is seen as precautionary measure. Obviously he's down to open the batting.

Green on green today. Has the time come for away shirts in international cricket?

We're going to continue to see spin for Ireland. Their spinners struggled initially but have come back well. Australia's scoring has slowed down and I think Ireland will be quite happy.

It's a big wicket that. We all know the damage Glenn Maxwell can do. It was short and wide but he was beaten for pace by Harry Tector. Maxwell should be cutting through point but he was trying to go through extra cover. It didn't bounce enough for the shot.

  9. Australia captain Marsh absent due to 'testicular bleeding'published at 10:28 GMT 11 February

Australia captain Mitchell Marsh was ruled out of their opening T20 World Cup game against Ireland after suffering "testicular bleeding", with Steve Smith called up as cover.

The 34-year-old was struck in the groin area while receiving throw downs during a training session in Colombo on Sunday.

Cricket Australia (CA) said Marsh is "experiencing ongoing pain and discomfort", which is "restricting his movement".

"Scans have confirmed internal testicular bleeding, and he will require a period of rest and rehabilitation," said a CA statement.

"His return to play will be guided by symptom resolution and medical advice."

  10. Aus 98-4published at 11 overs

A tidy over from George Dockrell - Ireland's spinners have brought the run-rate down while picking up wickets.

  11. Aus 90-4published at 10 overs

Halfway stage and this one's nicely poised after the dangerous Maxwell was dismissed.

Glenn Maxwell went for a thrash, a thick edge and really well taken by Lorcan Tucker.

    Maxwell c Tucker b Tector 9 (Aus 88-4)

Another big wicket falls - this time it's Glenn Maxwell getting the edge on a fine Harry Tector delivery and Lorcan Tucker takes the catch behind the stumps.

The pitch is dryer and hotter during the day here compared to the night game and Ireland were expecting a bit more grip. But apart from the Cameron Green wicket we haven't seen much which probably backs up Australia's decision to bat first.

  15. Aus 86-3published at 9 overs

Another delivery from spinner George Dockrell that's too short and it's punished with a Glenn Maxwell boundary.

  16. Aus 77-3published at 8 overs

More spin from Ireland and Harry Tector turns his arm with the Aussies adding eight runs.

That wonderful Paul Stirling catch was the highlight of George Dockrell's opening over.

Paul Stirling has bucket hands. It's one you would expect him to take. Josh Inglis was reaching for it outside off stump but Stirling was there to take a catch.

What a spectacular catch from Ireland's captain! He's not the tallest man but my word he leapt off the ground to take that.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 6.5 overs

    Inglis c Stirling b Dockrell 37 (Aus 69-3)

That's a brilliant catch from Paul Stirling.

Josh Inglis slices it and Stirling dives at full stretch to hold on.
