    Easy now...

Jacob Bethell falls with 38 more needed.

He hammers the ball at cover off Scott Boland and Usman Khawaja takes a good, low catch.

Still work to do for England. Australia keep themselves in with a sniff.

I thought Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley did a tremendous job.

That opening partnership set this foundation.

Three singles from the over and it's under 40 for England now...

If England gets there, it is a very important win for them.

Brendon McCullum within the team is very, very popular. If England lose 5-0 here, you question whether Baz McCullum would carry on. These players want him to stay.

The only way that these players can keep him here in his job going forward is to win these games. This has been perfect for Bazball, this kind of pitch and this kind of chase.

    England needed to win.

Big cheers from the Barmy Army as a misfield from Jake Weatherald at point allows Joe Root to sprint back for two.

It's Root's second two of the Scott Boland over with a single apiece for the former skipper and Jacob Bethell.

Six from the over, England need another 42 to win.

Winning a two-day Test with a red ball has more merit than winning a five-day Test with a pink ball. There, I've said it.

In this chase of 175, England have gone about it perfectly.

They dashed at the start, then threw in Brydon Carse to try to get a quick 20. Jacob Bethell came in at number four and played nicely.

Now, it is down to the senior pro, Joe Root, to bring a bit of calmness.

The required runs dip below 50.

It's 48 to be precise as Joe Root and Jacob Bethell combine for five singles from the Mitchell Starc over.

England fans will be painting Melbourne red and white. I think they will have forgot we lost the first three Tests.

    Target 175

Joe Root is off the pair!

After Jacob Bethell nudges a single, he's pinned down for four balls by Scott Boland before getting off the mark with a push through the covers.

That makes it 53 to win for England.

In all sport, the mantra ‘attack is the best form of defence’ has always been a popular tactic. England are brutally following that tactic, otherwise known as Bazball! Better than getting there tentatively pushing for singles!

  14. Eng 119-3published at 20 overs

    Target 175

Hearts in mouths for a moment as Jacob Bethell skips down to Mitchell Starc and drives, in the air, towards mid-off.

Diving effort from the fielder but it flies just over him and away for four.

That shot was always coming after Starc produced a ripper that jagged past the edge a couple of balls previous.

A leading edge into the covers brings two more before a quick single to end the over.

  15. Eng 112-3published at 19 overs

Joe Root, on a pair, sees off the last two balls of the Scott Boland over.

A much-needed breakthrough for Australia but England just need to keep their composure.

They need another 63 with seven wickets remaining.

If England can stay calm and just play, then they will win this Test match.

Plumb. England lose their third wicket.

Crashing into leg stump about two thirds of the way up.

Zak Crawley played well and has put England in a good position but he has to go after playing round this one.

Scott Boland got it to nip back and the review was always extremely optimistic.

The average seam movement for this session currently sits at 0.67 degrees, which is the lowest for any of the sessions in this Test match so far.

Australia had a lot of success hitting the back half of the good length in the first innings, but have gone almost half a metre fuller in this innings, no doubt influenced by England's attacking approach and with the keeper coming up to the stumps frequently.
