    Hill c McManus b Ramesh 2 (Northants v Leics 110-4)

Now then... this game has turned a bit since the first hour!

Two wickets fall in eight balls as Lewis Hill miscues a sweep off spinner Nirvan Ramesh and edges low to captain-keeper Lewis McManus.

That was taken off a glove or a bottom edge.

Jonny Tattersall is about to begin his first innings for Leicestershire.

Northants have their third scalp of the session and a first bowling point of the match.

Rishi Patel gets a big top edge, trying to pull a short ball from George Scrimshaw outside the line of off stump and the ball is skied to Ben Whitehouse.

    Stephen Eskinazi to bat next.

    Notts v Warwicks 52-1

Warwickshire reach the innings 50 in the 19th over via Will Young, who goes back to Lyndon James to work a leg side ball away fine for one.

Young gets a single off Dillon Pennington to square leg at the other end to square leg and Rob Yates has one more clipped to long leg.

That's the 50 partnership between this pair off 107 balls. This has been an impressive rearguard after probing opening spells and the early loss of Alex Davies.

    Northants v Leics 100-2

Leicestershire pass the 100-mark in the 23rd over with a single off the bat of Lewis Hill, who is on his toes to a short ball from pace bowler George Scrimshaw, dropping it safely into the on side.

  5. Glamorgan five wickets downpublished at 12:08 BST 24 September 2025

    Glamorgan 85-5 v Lancashire

Glamorgan have lost Colin Ingram and Kiran Carlson and have lost five wickets in just over an hour and a half since play began.

Ingram could only make 13 before being bowled by George Balderson, and Carlson reached 34 before he was pinned lbw by Tom Aspinwall.

Billy Root and Chris Cooke are the men tasked with rebuilding before lunch.

  6. Postpublished at 12:05 BST 24 September 2025

    Notts v Warwicks 49-1

Rob Yates moves to 22 with a late nudge for four through cover on the back foot, facing Dillon Pennington.

Immaculate timing from the opener after struggling for fluency early on.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12:05 BST 24 September 2025

    Lategan c Lamb b Robinson 41 (Worcs 71-6 v Sussex)

And Ollie Robinson has a five wicket haul before lunch as the dangerous looking Daniel Lategan is dismissed.

Lategan had been a little pinned down in the last two overs and he seeks a release but Robinson has fired it in with a little extra oopmh and the ball flies low to Danny Lamb at backward point.

Robinson has 5-32 his 24th first class five-for and he has delilvered a timely reminder of his red ball talents the day after the winter tourists are announced.

Leus du Plooy (38*) and Luke Hollman (28*) are combining well and have taken Middlesex over 100 against Gloucestershire.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12:01 BST 24 September 2025

    Roderick c Simpson b Unadkat 22 (Worcs 71-5 v Sussex)

This is a lovely ball angled to middle and tempting Gareth Roderick into a leg side flick only to square him up as it leaves and takes the edge.

Sussex have produced some good seam bowling this morning.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12:01 BST 24 September 2025

    Holland c McManus b Scrimshaw 4 (Northants v Leics 99-2)

Northants are getting a tiny foothold into this match after a fairly chastening morning.

George Scrimshaw has Leicester skipper Ian Holland driving from the crease, edging the ball to captain and keeper Lewis McManus.

Lewis Hill is in at four for Leicestershire.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11:59 BST 24 September 2025

    McKinney c Bairstow b Hill 29 (Yorks v Durham 51-3)

George Hill goes wide on the crease and fires one back in towards the off stump line. Ben McKinney fends at it and it takes the edge and sails into Jonny Bairstow's gloves.

    A first point for Yorks.

  12. 'Surrey in real trouble'published at 11:58 BST 24 September 2025

    Hants v Surrey 44-4

    Michael Carberry
Former England batter on BBC Radio Solent

    Beautiful set-up from James Fuller.

He runs it back and clips the top of off stump. It's a peach of a delivery and Surrey are in real trouble.

  13. Back on at Trent Bridgepublished at 11:57 BST 24 September 2025

    Notts v Warwicks 39-1

Will Young is on strike to face Lyndon James.

He has 21 and Rob Yates has 18.

Just a short delay, lasting less than half an hour.

  14. Postpublished at 11:56 BST 24 September 2025

    Essex v Somerset 85-1

Good over from Charlie Bennett, offering no width to Josh Thomas, who blocks down the ground.

The fourth ball is a touch wider and punched from the crease through the off side for a couple.

A big play and miss follows from the crease.

He reaches for another ball wide of off peg and this time connects, sending it through cover for four.

  15. Postpublished at 11:52 BST 24 September 2025

    Essex v Somerset 79-1

Josh Thomas misses a drive to a full length Noah Thain delivery and the ball goes through to keeper Michael Pepper, leaving both the edge and stumps undisturbed.

An LBW shout off a leg side ball is turned down.

The fifth ball is pushed through cover for a single.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11:52 BST 24 September 2025

    Foakes b Fuller 2 (Hants v Surrey 44-4)

Ben Foakes does not get his feet moving at all, hanging on the back foot when he might have got forward, and James Fuller has taken the bails off with a direct hit on the top of off stump.

That was a nice set up by Fuller who got into Foakes's mind with one that left him the ball before and it is a terrible start for Surrey who, it should be remembered, chose to bat here.

  17. Postpublished at 11:49 BST 24 September 2025

    Essex v Somerset 78-1

Charlie Bennett is firmly driven by Tom Lammonby and some smart fielding at extra cover prevents a likely four runs.

A no ball follows and the next delivery is turned to leg for no run.

  18. Postpublished at 11:47 BST 24 September 2025

    Northants v Leics 86-1

Nirvan Ramesh is on and the off spinner is well wide of off stump to Ian Holland, who drives expansively and gets an inside edge past his leg stump for no run.

Fine progress for Leicestershire overall however - 86 runs off 18 overs.

  19. dropped catch

Thomas dropped on 55published at 11:44 BST 24 September 2025

    Essex v Somerset 74-1

Noah Thain beats Josh Thomas outside off stump but his next ball is short and pulled over mid wicket for four.

Dropped at first slip by Dean Elgar off the drive!

Thomas really went hard at that ball and survives on 55.

Tough chance but certainly a missed chance.

  20. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Trent Bridgepublished at 11:43 BST 24 September 2025

    Notts v Warwicks 39-1

    Hopefully just a passing shower.

Tellingly, there is only a single cover on the square.
