Good to see Ffion getting into the spirit and going for lunch when the cricket can be played.

If you are gonna chase 250, you're going to need some luck and some positivity.

  3. NZ 43-3published at 14 overs

    Target 254

Big drive from Devon Conway first ball back and Gus Atkinson finds the edge... but the ball is skewed wide of gully for four.

More control from Conway next ball, a defensive shot into the covers for a single.

Dot ball to finish so Rachin Ravindra is still waiting to get off the pair.

The wait continues for Rachin Ravindra to get off his first pair in Test cricket. Overall, he has recorded just seven ducks in 119 first-class innings and has only once been dismissed for a duck in both innings of a match, against Canterbury in 2019.

    Thanks, Ffion.

Yep, everyone is back out there which is good, get some play in while you can. The latest weather radar I looked at suggested this rain-free spell won't last long.

    Well, there we go.

Play will resume within the next few minutes and as I'm sure you can all understand, I am absolutely exhausted after live-texting those 11 balls, so here's Sam Drury to see how long this stint lasts.

I'm told that it has now stopped raining and all that's left to do is get the hover cover off.

Based on how today's gone so far, let's assume that'll take another hour and three more bouts of rain.

Nothing more predictable. Took lunch when it was dry, then it rains when it's finally time to play.

Cricket really doesn't help itself sometimes, does it?

    NZ 37-3

    We managed 11 balls.

Remember what I said about that lunch break looking silly?

Ollie Robinson may have been incredibly nervous [on Thursday] but he looked totally in control. It's been a big moment, coming back.

  13. NZ 37-3published at 13 overs

    Target 254

That drizzle hasn't turned into anything worse, thankfully.

Ollie Robinson picks up where he left off, conceding just a single from his first to Devon Conway. Rachin Ravindra remains on nought - after a golden duck and two dropped catches, he could do with a redemption innings.

There seems to be no other sport in which timings for play have to revolve around players’ meal arrangements…

Oh, and obviously, it is now drizzling.

  16. NZ 36-3published at 12 overs

    Ravindra survives his first ball.

  17. Postpublished at 12:59 BST 6 June

This was the last ball of play last night, meaning Rachin Ravindra is on strike mid-Atkinson over and he is on a king pair.

  18. Postpublished at 12:55 BST 6 June

Right, it looks like we're going to get some cricket! How much, exactly, remains a mystery but let's take the positives for now.

  19. Postpublished at 12:45 BST 6 June

Play should be starting in 15 minutes' time.

A nervous wait to see whether that 1pm rain materialises...

The weather is dry, the covers are off. Bar the creases being repainted, the ground is ready. The players are out warming up. Why are we not playing?
