    Age: 21

    Role: Right-hand bat, left-arm spin

    Team: London Spirit

James Coles has become the most expensive player in today's auction after London Spirit signed him for £390,000.

The Sussex all-rounder looks to be an England player in the making.

Across 29 T20 innings since the start of 2025, Coles has averaged 32 with the bat while striking at 156, an exceptional record while batting in the middle order. Coles is a slightly stronger player of spin than pace, averaging 38 against spin while striking at 162, a unique skillset for a local player in the men's Hundred.

Coles is also a more than capable left-arm spinner, taking 28 wickets at 26 with an economy rate of 8.18 since the start of last year.

Lewis Gregory returns to Trent Rockets having captained them to the title back in 2022 - the 33-year-old all-rounder strikes at 140 down the order with the bat as well as bowling economically through the middle overs, conceding at 1.39 runs per ball providing plenty of balance to the side alongside pre-signing Mitchell Santner.

  14. Lewis Gregory to Trent Rockets for £55,000published at 12:44 GMT 12 March

Lewis Gregory has joined Trent Rockets for £55,000.

Gregory made his T20I debut for England in 2019 and played nine international games in the format and was with Manchester Originals during the 2025 campaign.

  15. Coles' big paydaypublished at 12:44 GMT 12 March

The £390,000 that James Coles has just fetched from London Spirit is comfortably the biggest fee paid today.

It is also the fourth most for any player in the 2026 tournament at this stage behind Harry Brook (£465k), Phil Salt (£450k) and Jofra Archer (£400k).

That means he'll earn more than the likes of Jos Buttler, Jacob Bethell and Adil Rashid who were all part of England's T20 World Cup squad earlier this month.

It's a sign of how highly rated the 21-year-old is.
