    After a break for bad light, the umpires have done an inspection and decided that play can resume.

    We will begin again in 10 minutes.for 4.3 overs.

  2. Quiet return at Leicester

    Leics 98-5 v Glamorgan

    After being off for over three hours, Leicestershire's batters have been steady since the resumption.

    They've added 14 in five overs. Still seven overs due to be bowled today.

    Big shout for lbw against Nick Gubbins, propping forward to a George Hill delivery.

    Not out.

  4. Surrey still being frustrated

    Surrey v Notts 184-9

    Surrey still can't wrap up this Nottinghamshire innings. The table toppers have accumulated 12 more runs since the resumption with Liam Patterson-White adding another boundary to move onto 76.

    This is some recovery from Notts who were 41-5 and 98-7.

    Still 14 more overs scheduled to be bowled in the day.

    Abell b Snater 65 (Somerset 348-5 v Essex)

    Shane Snater strikes in the penultimate over of the day as he bowls Tom Abell through the gate.

    Only Essex's fifth wicket of the day - and a second for Snater.

    Abell was trying to turn Snater on the leg side but was punished for it.

    Somerset have sent in a nightwatchman, Jake Ball, who sees out three balls.

    James Rew is on 21 as Jamie Porter comes in to bowl the final over.

    Ohh, gorgeous cover drive by David Bedingham. One of the shots of the day. He's nine not out off four balls and past 800 Championship runs for the season.

    This season Surrey have regularly failed to mop up the tail when numerous top orders have been sent back to the hutch. Bowlers do not bowl enough straight deliveries to the lower order.

    Brett Randell has his first Derbyshire wicket.

    The New Zealander finds the edge of Will Rhodes' bat and Ben Aitchison takes the catch at second slip.

    David Bedingham, who is the leading run-scorer in Division Two this season, is the next man in for the leaders.

    Ben Coad does eventually make the breakthrough for Yorkshire.

    An escape of sorts for Durham captain Alex Lees, who almost chops a Martin Andersson delivery onto his stumps.

    Lees is eight runs away from a half-century.

    Two batting bonus points so far.

    Somerset look in line for a third before the close at Taunton.

    Tom Abell is set on 64, with James Rew on 18.

    And five overs left to do it this evening.

    Ben Coad is causing a few problems for Ali Orr and Nick Gubbins with the new ball, but Hampshire's opening pair are battling hard to preserve their respective wickets.

    Hampshire's deficit is under 150 now.

    Well maybe calling it sunny at The Oval might be optimistic but they do plan to resume at 18:00.

    Surrey will hope to use the resumption to end the lower order resistance from Nottinghamshire.

    I'm at the Oval, and Notts are 70 odd runs more than they should be. Played and missed so many deliveries. Surrey should be into their own middle order by now.

    Liam Patterson-White has certainly led an excellent rearguard action from Nottinghamshire.

    Derbyshire v Durham 67-1

    After the loss of an early wicket Alex Lees and Will Rhodes have looked pretty comfortable.

    Lees survived an enthusiastic LBW appeal shortly before the pair reached the landmark but generally they've been solid.

  17. Hampshire 14-0 v Yorkshire 173

    Unlike in other areas of the UK, the weather in Southampton looks set fair at the moment.

    A scheduled 20 overs remain in the day's play and, with the sun shining brightly right now, there's a good chance they'll all be bowled before the close.

  18. Bashir out of the attack

    Shoaib Bashir only lasts two quiet overs before being taken out of the attack.

    No doubt he'll have a bigger role to play later in the game.

    Lancashire v Northants 56-2

    Only 18 overs of play possible at Old Trafford today - a disappointing return after only all those sunny days over the last two months.

    A combination of rain, bad light and more rain have done it.

    Not one to live long in too many memories, except perhaps for Ben Walkden after his maiden Lancashire first-class wicket.

    Northants captain Luke Procter dodged the weather and some hooping deliveries to get to 26 not out at the close.
