  1. 'You can feel the energy'published at 08:50 BST 26 April

    Sir Mo Farah
The UK's most successful distance runner on BBC One

You can feel the vibe and you can feel the energy. For me, as an elite athlete lining up here, it does bring back a lot of memories. What will get emotional is the finish line - all these people want to get to the line and cross the line.

  2. 'Excited to see it all kick-off'published at 08:50 BST 26 April

    Ellie Kildunne
World Cup winner and 2026 London Marathon official starter on BBC One

It doesn't feel the crack of dawn. Soon as I got here, it was buzzing. I am excited to see it all kick-off. Having the honour of starting the marathon.

  3. Champions back to defend their titlespublished at 08:49 BST 26 April

This year's elite races feature all four defending champions, as Kenyan Sabastian Sawe, Ethiopia's Tigst Assefa and Swiss pair Marcel Hug and Catherine Debrunner return to defend their titles.

Britons Mahamed Mahamed, Phil Sesemann, Patrick Dever, Rose Harvey, Eilish McColgan, Jess Warner-Judd, David Weir and Eden Rainbow-Cooper will be among those hoping to star on home soil.

There have been some high profile withdrawals too with Olympic champion Sifan Hassan and world champion Peres Jepchirchir out with injuries, plus Emile Cairess whose quest to beat Sir Mo Farah's British record has been postponed by a calf problem.

A bit of news from the start line...

We're hearing the start of the wheelchair races may be ever so slightly delayed because Britain's Eden Rainbow-Cooper has a puncture.

  5. A fourth title and a world record for Debrunner?published at 08:47 BST 26 April

For the best two years the wheelchair races in London have been a Swiss one-two.

Catherine Debrunner and Marcel Hug (can we call them De Hugger?) have been dominant.

Debrunner, like Hug, is back this year to defend her title. She missed the world record by just two seconds last year.

The British charge will be led by Eden Rainbow-Cooper, who regained her Boston Marathon title on Monday and beat Debrunner by more than two minutes.

Marathon day is so special. It unites everyone - there is a really, really special energy in the city.

It is such a distance but the fact the streets are lined helps a lot. It lifts the city.

  7. Can Hug equal Weir's record?published at 08:44 BST 26 April

Swiss great Marcel Hug, who is chasing a fifth victory in a row, has made winning the London Marathon a habit in recent years.

Another win this year would see him tie Britain's David Weir on eight London Marathon wins, making the pair the joint most successful athletes in the events history.

Weir is also racing this year so may have some extra motivation, though the 46-year-old's last win came back in 2018.

Definitely out of my comfort zone. It's my first marathon, but like Laura [Kenny], not sure of the timing, but just get stuck in and have a good day out.

  11. 'Looking after the kids is harder than this'published at 08:39 BST 26 April

    Laura Kenny
Five time Olympic gold medal track on BBC One

I think he [Jason Kenny] is glad that he can hand it back and not come today. I think looking after the kids at home is harder than this!

I am looking forward to the crowd, but the running I am terrified of. I get told if I start walking, I will walk to the finish.

Laura Kenny is making her debut at this year's London marathon.
