There are lots of ways to thank people and show your gratitude in Gaelic but here's the two which are most commonly used:

 


thank you - formal / plural

Tapadh leibh

thank you - informal / single person

Tapadh leat


The same words "leibh" and "leat" are also used in the Gaelic phrase for good bye - did you notice this in the conversation? Let's listen to the phrases:


Mar sin leibh
good bye - formal / plural

Mar sin leat
good bye - informal / single
