"I paint surrealist/floral images, working continuously over several hours, since the flowers age and change so quickly. I become so focussed on my work that I do not stop for anything, be it doorbell, phone ringing or cat interruption! Radio is the only soundtrack for me. I listen to the news, which keeps me in touch with the outside world, and acts as my watch, marking the passing of time; and also classical music, which creates the reflective mood I need for utter absorption in the task. Radio enriches my painting experience and I would not be without it."
