"Three cheers for Radio 3. I've been listening to it for 30 years - ever since I began my professional art career. My work is labour-intensive. The music I hear from morning to early evening most weekdays always allows me to focus on what I'm doing. I enjoy the companionship of the informed (and often amusing) announcers who wear their learning lightly. Occasionally I stop and am amazed at what I hear, other times, moved by the passion and clarity of what I hear. Occasionally, too, I get sick of hearing Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition and the repertoire aimed at the afternoon nap: the cantatas
for noseflute and loudhailer, but then, that's Radio 3 and I'd never
hear it anywhere else."
