"I paint in the dining room, make tea in the kitchen, fetch a brush from the garden workshop, switching Radio 4 on everywhere I go. Run from the shed back across the garden, don’t want to miss that interesting bit, then concentrate on work and have no idea what I have listened to. Radio 4 is part of the texture of the day, an aid to concentration, my main source of education after going to art school aged 15. My work draws inspiration from the home, Radio 4 is an essential part of what being at home means to me."
